The post is purely on contract basis for the program period up to March 2012.
Essential Qualifications:
Good academic record with a doctoral degree or equivalent published work. In addition to these, candidates who join from outside the University system, shall also possess at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale, with letter grades O, A, B, C, E and F at the Master’s degree level. 5 years of experience of teaching and / or research excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degrees and has made some measure in the areas of scholarship as evidenced by quality of publication / contribution to educational innovation, design of new courses and curricula.
The University offers programmes only at P.G. Level Teaching and Research and hence the following desired qualifications will be looked into.
Desired Qualifications: As per the above UGC, norms with the following desired qualifications.
Ph.D. in Genomics / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry /Genetics / Bioinformatics or related areas in Life Science. Minimum 5 years of PG teaching / research experience in the area of Genomic Science / Proteomics / Bioinformatics after Ph.D. Candidates should have published research papers in peer reviewed International and National Journals. Should have expertise to teach and lead a research group in Genomics.

The filled in application should be accompanied by registration fee of Rs.300/-, US$ 200/- for overseas applicants in the form of a Demand Draft, obtained from any nationalized bank, drawn in favour of the “Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai 625021”. SC/ST candidates should enclose a photocopy of the Community Certificate to avail this concession. Candidates may please note that payment of Registration fee by CASH / CHEQUE / MONEY ORDER / POSTAL ORDER / CHALAN / or any other form will not be accepted. The Demand Draft should have been purchased after the date of issue of this advertisement. Applicant should write his/her name and address on the reverse side of the Demand Draft. . The cover should be superscribed as “Application for the post of Reader in Genomics”
