ACBR Delhi MSc-PhD/PhD Admissions 2011 in Biomedical Sciences

The University of Delhi wishes to admit students on an All India basis to pursue Post Graduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research (ACBR).

The focus of the teaching and research is on Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Medical Biotechnology, Molecular & Human Genetics, Cancer Genetics, Human Physiology, Organic Chemistry, Molecular Oncology, Tumour Virology, Natural Product Chemistry, Medical Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Toxicology and Instrumentation.

The detailed syllabus is available on the website of ACBR. The Center possesses excellent research facilities, state of the art teaching rooms and research laboratories and collaborates with neighbouring research institutions like Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (IN MAS) and the Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS). ACBR Offers 10 Catch Them Young-CSIR fellowships. Jean Ashit Ganguly Educational Scholarship, Jawahar Bhawan Trust Merit cum Means Scholarship, Prof. H.C. Gaur Scholarship, Prof. Gurbaksh Singh Education Scholarship and Major S.P. Datta Award for toppers of M.Sc. Single Girl Child fellowships are also available.

Applications are invited on the prescribed form for the following Courses:

1. M.Sc-Ph.D. Combined Degree in Biomedical Sciences (Full Time4 Years Course)

2. M.Sc. Degree in Biomedical Sciences (Full Time 2 Years Course) Eligibility (for 1&2): Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences / Life Sciences / Zoology/ Botany / Microbiology /Chemistry / Biochemistry/Environmental Biology /Biotechnology/ Laboratory Techniques /B.Pharma / B.v.Sc. or M.B.B.S. with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST. PwD and Defence Category candidates) from University of Delhi or any other examination recognised by the University or equivalent thereto.

3. Ph.D. Degree in Biomedical Sciences in the areas specified above.

Eligibility (for 3) for ACBR Delhi MSc-PhD/PhD Admissions 2011: Master's Degree in the appropriate field of Science, M.Tech., MV.Sc., M. Pharma or M.D. with a minimum of 55% marks or B.Tech., MBBS with 70% and 60% marks or equivalent grades respectively. CSIR-UGC-ICMR-DBT-NET qualified (with fellowship) candidates are preferred.

Interview for admission to Ph.D. will be held in July/August 2011. Details for Ph.D. Programme are available on the ACBR website: www.acbrdu.edu

How to Apply  for ACBR Delhi MSc-PhD/PhD Admissions 2011: : Information Bulletin along with Application form for all the above courses can be obtained from the office of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research, University of Delhi, North Campus, Delhi·11 0007 on all working days w.e.f. May 16, 2011 from 09.30 am to 01.00 pm against Demand Draft of Rs. 1000/· (Rs. 4001· for SC/ST and PwD candidates). If required by post, a Demand Draft of Rs. 10501· (Rs. 450/· for SC/ST and PwD candidates) will be necessary and should be sent along with an application on plain paper showing the name and address (with Pin Code) olthe applicant in block letters so as to reach the office of the ACBR on or before May 30, 2011.

Application forms can also be downloaded from ACBR website: www.acbrdu.edu. The Demand Draft should be made in favour of the "Director, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research". The last date for sale of Information Bulletin is June 01,2011 and the last date for receipt of completed application form atACBR is June 10,2011.

Admission Test  for ACBR Delhi MSc-PhD/PhD Admissions 2011: : Admission Test for M.Sc.·Ph. D. and M.Sc. Degree Courses will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. The Interview and Group Discussion for candidates qualifying the Entrance Test will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2011 from 9:00 am onward. The Entrance Test will have multiple-choice questions from all areas, as mentioned above, at the Undergraduate level.

N.B.: Incomplete forms and forms without Demand Draft shall be summarily rejected. Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP) and Summer Out Reach Programme (SOP) of 6 - 8 weeks duration is scheduled between June July 2011. Post Graduate students are also considered. The Programme consists of 1-2 hours of lecture followed by Project Work under the supervision of faculty members. Students can apply on plain paper along with a brief Bio-Data and a Demand Draft of Rs. 250/- drawn in favour of the "Director, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research" latest by May 25, 2011.
