About the workshop

Computational biology has initiated a new revolution in life science research by providing computational solutions to biological problems which is extremely complex and ever changing - with new methodologies and technologies being introduced constantly. Availability of huge amount of data has tremendously enhanced the speed of biological research and dramatically reduced the cost of research.

The workshop is being organized for medical and biomedical faculty, researchers and students with an objective to provide both demonstration and hands-on-sessions on basics of Bioinformatics to advance tools and techniques essential for innovative biomedical research. The training will pertain effective use of open source bioinformatics resources to gain insight on addressing complex biological issues.

A series of lectures, demonstrations and hand-on sessions will be delivered by experts in following topics.

• Introductory Bioinformatics: Major Bioinformatics resources
• Basics of machine learning
• Linux OS overview
• Database and tool development through Perl programming
• Comparative genomics
• Protein-protein interactions
• Next Generation Sequencing data analysis

Who should attend?

M.Sc/M.Tech/Ph.D. students, Faculty members, Biomedical scientists, Clinicians from any branch of Biomedical sciences or a relevant field. Maximum no. of participants for the workshop would be restricted to 20.

Registration Fee

Selected participants have to register for the workshop with registration fee of Rs. 1000/- in favour of Director, National Institute of Pathology, New Delhi. The registration fee includes registration kit, lectures, hands on practical session, tea and working lunch. Selected participants has to come with their own laptops.

Note: Accommodation by candidates on their own. No TA/DA will be provided by NIP.
