International Workshop on MAMMALIAN CELL CULTURE TECHNIQUES AND CYTOTOXICITY ASSAYS

The Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology announces a three-day International Workshop on “Mammalian Cell Culture Techniques and Cytotoxicity Assays” from December 14-16, 2015 at South Asian University, Akbar Bhawan, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

Objective of the Workshop Mammalian cell cultures are an important tool in modern biomedical research. In this three-day workshop, participants will be given hands-on training in culturing cancer cell-lines in vitro including media preparation, cell counting and passaging, freezing and thawing cells.

In addition, participants will also perform cell viability assays by treating cells with different cytotoxic drugs. Cell viability will be checked through flow cytometry and plate reader-based assays such as MTT assay, LDH release and crystal violet assays.

Registration Details Registration is open to Ph.D. or research scholars, postdocs, scientists or faculty, and industry delegates from any SAARC country having a minimum degree of M.Sc. or equivalent in any branch of biology.

Registration Form can be downloaded from the SAU website. Soft copy of the Registration Form along with a scanned copy of Demand Draft should be emailed to FLSBworkshop@sau.ac.in at the earliest since the number of participants will be limited to ensure full hands-on training for everyone. In case of Ph.D. scholars and postdocs, a letter from the current supervisor is required in your support.

Hard copy of the Registration Form and original Demand Draft should reach us by October 16, 2015.

Registration Fee

Ph.D. scholars and postdocs: Rs. 5000

Faculty/scientists: Rs. 7000

Industry delegates: Rs. 10,000

The registration fee is to be paid through Bank Demand Draft in favour of “South Asian University” payable at New Delhi. Registration fee covers lunch. However, no TA/DA will be provided. Accommodation is not included in the registration fee but can be arranged for an additional fee.
