National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) is a research organisation of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. The organisation is looking for the below mentioned Project Staff on Contract basis.

1 Project Scientist III 7F 1

Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Microbiology/Life science from a recognized university/Institute with first class Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in sampling, culture, isolation and identification of microbes from coastal/ marine environment.

Desirable: Hands on experience in enrichment, isolation, and characterization of microbes from marine environment.

Nature of Work: Assisting the scientists in assessment of diversity and distribution of microbial communities in marine and other natural environment. Collection of data in the field, report preparation, data compilation, processing and preparation of progress reports of the project etc.

2 Project Scientist III 10F1 1

Essential Qualification: First Class Master’s Degree Marine Science/ Oceanography with 7 years experience or First Class M.E/ M.Tech in Engineering/Technology with subjects relevant to Coastal Engineering with 6 years of experience.

Desirable: Ph.D. in relevant subject. Knowledge in Operation and maintenance /deployment of Oceanographic Instruments such as current meters and tide gauge, Data buoy, echosounder etc.,

Nature of Work: Assist the Scientists in field sample collection, Undertaking field works related to hydrodynamic studies. Operation and deployment of oceanographic Instruments such as tide gauges, current meter, echosounder etc., analysis of data & mathematical modelling, associating with the scientists / project team in day-to-day inhouse research activities.

Essential Qualification: First Class Master’s Degree in Mathematics with subjects relevant to mathematical modelling with 7 years of experience.

Desirable: Ph.D. in relevant subject.

Nature of Work: Assist the Scientist in field sample collection Undertaking field works related to Climate modelling hydrodynamic studies, associating with the scientists / project team in day-to-day in-house research activities.

Essential Qualification: First Class Master’s Degree in Marine science/Life science/ Social Sciences with subjects relevant to ecosystem goods and services with 7years of experience.

Desirable: Ph.D. in relevant subject. Knowledge/experience in Data processing. coastal resources analysis or socioeconomic analysis etc Nature of Work: Assist the Scientists in project related activities. Studies relating to Social Sciences, Sociology or Economics or Statistics or Management related aspects.

5 Project Scientist II 9E 1

Essential Qualification: Master’s degree in Remote sensing/ Physics / Environmental Sciences / Forestry or M. Tech in Geoinformatics or equivalent with First class and 3 years of relevant research experience.

Desirable: Ph.D. in relevant subject involving remote sensing applications. Experience in Remote Sensing-GIS software and Spatial sampling techniques. Good knowledge of mangrove- seagrass physiology, remote sensing based mapping and productivity analysis.

Nature of work: Assisting senior scientist in extensive data collection along coastal vegetation for ground/sea truthing and biophysical parameters, Digital image processing, complex spatial statistical analysis and report generation.

6 Project Scientist II 10E 1

45,000/- Essential Qualification: First Class Master’s Degree in Marine science/Life science/with 3 years of experience.

Desirable: Ph.D. relevant to marine toxicology, Coastal bio-monitoring assessment, Cumulative Environmental Impact Assessment (CEIA)

Nature of Work: Assist the Scientists in field sample collection Undertaking field works related to CEIA studies. Operation and Underwater (SCUBA Diving) deployment of oceanographic Instruments, analysis of Pesticides in coastal water & bioassay studies, associating with the scientists / project team in day-to-day in-house research activities.

Essential Qualification: First class PG degree in Marine science/ Physical Oceanography or any branch of sciences/M.E/ M. Tech in Engineering Technology or subjects relevant to data communication with 1 year experience.

Desirable: Knowledge/experience in Operation and maintenance / deployment of Oceanographic Instruments such as Data buoy, automatic weather stations, echosounder etc. Ph.D. in relevant subject Nature of Work: Assist the scientist in field sample collection and day-today laboratory preparatory works, carrying out data analysis and report preparation.
