COURSE CONTENTS / DESCRIPTION

It cannot be overstated that cancer is one of the deadliest, most incapacitating diseases in human history and the devastation caused by this disease can be seen in the whole world. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop manpower to fight against and treat this disease. Undoubtedly, during the last decade, India has experienced exponential increase of research centres, pharmaceutical companies, as well as in the number of devoted and talented scientists and medical doctors. However, India still lags far behind other developed nations in cancer research because of the lack of trained scientists and personal specializing in the field of cancer biology. The program will cover the major aspects of cancer research such as lifestyle, risk factors, predisposition syndromes, diagnosis and treatment. It will also cover essential subject matter such as the molecular pathways involved in cancer, drug discovery, preclinical and clinical models, applications of bioinformatics and recent advances in the field. This will attract and nurture young scientists at the beginning of their academic careers and will accelerate the growth of India’s biomedical industry, especially in drug discovery and diagnosis methods.
Thus this Short Term Course on “Recent Developments In Cancer Research” will inspire the next generation of highly skilled, motivated scientists to pursue careers in biomedical research, focusing on the area of cancer prevention and treatment.
