OBJECTIVE 

Drug discovery is a highly complex and multidisciplinary process that requires chemists, biologists, crystallographers, computer professionals and many others working together. The whole process takes around 10-15 years and nearly $1.8 billion today. Therefore there is an urgent need of newer approaches for carefully designing the compounds and for the last two decades the goal of medicinal chemistry has been dramatically focused on pinpointing what molecule to make. Our aim through this workshop is to inculcate a clear understanding of fundamentals and latest concepts in drug design and discovery which are required to prepare researchers as globally competent future professionals. This workshop will introduce researchers to multidisciplinary approach of drug design and discovery. Particular attention is devoted to the concepts and use of softwares for :

• QSAR analysis and Pharmacophore modeling

• Target discovery and validation • Protein structure modeling

• Structure based drug design

• Virtual screening

Additionally practice projects will also be given to the participants.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The course is aimed at beginners (M.Sc./M.Pharm./M.Tech. etc.) and those who have already been working in the field of drug discovery (Ph.D.). The course may also be useful to computational biologists new to drug design. Leading experts from research institutions and universities will cover different topics and lead the training sessions.

Selected candidates will be notified through e-mail for payment of course fee. The course fee is Rs. 2000 which will cover accommodation, lunch/dinner, course materials and certificate of attendance.
