WORKSHOP on Epigenetic Techniques as Tools for Cancer Research

February 17-19, 2016

Organised By
Department of Life Science
National Institute of Technology
Rourkela, Odisha
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The field of epigenetics holds the master key to unlock and unfold the mechanism concomitant with profound alteration in gene expression in response to environmental cues. It provides a clue in understanding the tenacity and the plasticity of the genome associated with chromatin modifications and remodeling engines. Most of these epigenetic modulations known till date are characterized by the covalent modifications of DNA, RNA and histone proteins including, DNA methylation, histone methylation and acetylation and non-coding RN As (mi RNA).

The systematic approach in interrogating the molecular aberrations complementary to epigenetic modification can potentially translate into more effective therapeutics in cancer. In this regard, the workshop will be focused on teaching the participants in learning epigenetic, molecular biology and cell culture techniques. Epigenetic research is emerging in India and will help the participants of the workshop to enhance their experimental skills and successfully implement them in their field of research.

Who can participate?

Research Scholars, Graduate & Post-Graduate students, Early-career scientists and Faculty members engaged in study/research on epigenetics and cancer biology.

Registrations to the Workshop is limited to 25 participants only on first come first served basis. Those who will send the filled in registration forms along with respective fees will only be considered for registrations. Registration fee will be refunded to the non-selected candidates.
