Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous Institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, invites applications from Indian Nationals for research personnel in the following Welcome Trust/DBT India Alliance sponsored projects.

Project A; “Role of Mitochondrial dynamics in Dengue virus life cycle and disease pathogenesis” Principal Investigator: Gulam Hussain Syed, PhD, Scientist D, ILS Bhubaneswar

Project B; “Understanding the role of IRGM-mediated innate immune response in diseases ” Principal Investigator: Santosh Chauhan, PhD, Scientist D, ILS Bhubaneswar

Applications are invited for the following post;

1. Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF): 02 Nos.

Emoluments: Rs. 36,000 per month + 20% HRA (as per DBT norms and commensurate with years of experience).

Eligibility: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree (or should have submitted his/her Ph.D. thesis) in biological sciences. Experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and cell biology techniques is highly desirable.

Candidates having experience in handling mice and first author publication in peer-reviewed journal in above subject areas will be given preference. Candidates preferring to work in ‘Project A’ are desired to have previous work experience in molecular virology. And/or (subject to availability of suitable candidates with requisite expertise)

2. Junior Research Fellow (JRF): 02 Nos.

Emoluments: Rs. 25,000 per month+ 20% HRA (as per DBT norms)

Eligibility: Candidates holding Master’s degree with 60% aggregate or more with NET or equivalent qualification in the subjects of Biotechnology/Microbiology/Biochemistry and allied sciences are eligible to apply.

JRF’s in projects will not be directly allowed to register for Ph.D. However they can compete for selection in ILS Ph.D. programme after fulfilling all necessary requirements.

The applicants are required to clearly state/rank their preference for the respective projects as per the research interests and desired expertise. Initial appointment will be for one year, extendable up to five years or until termination of the project whichever is earlier. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. List of applicants selected for the interview will be displayed on ILS webpage (www.ils.res.in). No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
