NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCES IN BIOTECHNOLOGY & BIOFUELS
SEPTEMBER 12-13, 2016
Department of Microbiology and Bioinformatics
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The technologic changes that have taken place during the past years lead the biotechnological sciences to a new era. This conference reflects on some of the recent advancements in several fields of Biotechnology: Realizing the immense potential of biotechnology in the fields of agricultural production and health care especially in developing countries, India has been devoting special attention over special efforts are being made to ensure practical applications of laboratory research. Salient achievements in the areas of agriculture (including tissue culture, transgenics, sericuiture, animal, marine and microbial biotechnology, biofertilizers, bio-control agents, bio-prospecting, conservation of biodiversity and environment) and health care (including genetic counselling, DNA fingerprinting, preservation and propagation of human cell lines, medicinal biotechnology with special reference to indigenous medicinal plants, and immunodiagnostics for human beings and animals) and the future trends will be highlighted. The world is developing not only industrially but also technologically. Along with these developments the concern has also grown for an economy and environment particularly with the issues like global warming and depleting oil reserves. These issues are driving worldwide interest in exploring for renewable resources that can be used as feedstock for biofuel production. Hence as a need of an hour biofuel production will also be highlighted theme of this conference.
