About the Course The course aims to dwell on state of the art techniques in animal genetic resources conservation, management and improvement under both theory and practical sessions. Course contents include topics on status, characterization, management, utilization, genetic improvement and conservation of different livestock and poultry breeds/species and their economic evaluation and IPR issues. Latest techniques available for prioritization of breeds for conservation, assessment of genetic diversity in farm animals, application of genomic selection in conservation of farm animals, germ plasm freezing, storage and utilization and parentage determination in livestock breeds. Status of A1/A2 alleles in different breeds of indigenous cattle shall also be dealt during the training course.
Eligibility qualification for the participants
(i) Master's Degree in Veterinary Sciences/ Animal Sciences/allied sciences.
(ii) Working not below the rank of Assistant Professor and equivalent in the concerned subject under ICAR, allied Institute/ Agricultural / Veterinary University/KVKs.
Boarding and Lodging The boarding, lodging and travel expenses of the selected participants will be borne under the training budget as per ICAR norms. The travel expenses will be reimbursed on the production of actual tickets only and will be restricted to a maximum of II- Tier AC sleeper of shortest train or bus route.
