ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

The objective of the Workshop is to provide the participants with a better understanding of process of investigation of bioactive compounds. The Workshop provides the participants knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects, especially related to the occurrence and distribution of different secondary metabolites in traditionally used plant materials, identification of in vitro antioxidant properties, extraction protocols and separation techniques.

PARTICIPANTS

The Workshop is intended for undergraduate, postgraduate students and personnel in research to gain more knowledge in drug discovery process.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Introduction to Natural Product research.
Occurrence, distribution and Identification of different secondary metabolites in  medicinal plant parts by histochemical staining methods.
Extraction of various secondary metabolites using soxhlet apparatus.
Determination of In vitro antioxidant properties.
Chromatography techniques for separation and identification of known metabolites.
Technical session on advanced instrumentation facility (NCIF).

Participants are requested to contact the Organizers to confirm the dates for registration. Names and other details may be filled in the form given and sent along with a DD for Rs. 250/- drawn in favor of ‘The Principal’ National College (Autonomous), payable at Tiruchirapalli. Registration fee includes working lunch.
