The main objective of the workshop is to expose participants to fundamental concepts, tools and softwares of bioinformatics (both offline and online). Also, providing hands-on training to participants enables them to understand better on commonly utilized softwares in bioinformatics. Essential Softwares employed in the following major areas will be discussed in the workshop: Biological Database retrieval, Sequence analysis, BLAST, Phylogenetic tree construction, Molecular visualization and Protein Structure Prediction (2D and 3D). The participants will have the opportunity to actively interact with the instructors and discuss technical problems they face with their work, if any.

PARTICIPANTS

The workshop is intended for students of undergraduate/postgraduate life science courses (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc.) as well as for researchers who are willing to gain knowledge on essential softwares in bioinformatics. Open minded interdisciplinary curiosity along with pragmatic approach is the basic requisite to participate in this training. Participants would enjoy the „hands-on‟ experience in our laboratory.
