About the Workshop:
To introduce about the current, emerging trends and applications of
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution studies and to provide hands
on training on molecular biology and bioinformatics tools in Molecular
Phylogenetics research.
Topics include:
Genomic DNA isolation, PCR, Sample preparation for sequencing,
Sanger Sequencing, Sequence annotation and submission in NCBI
and Bold. Bioinformatics web resources & tools, online databases &
retrieval of biological information,. Sequence and Phylogenetic
analysis. Homology in molecular phylogenetics and evolution,
Database searches using BLAST, Multiple sequence alignments,
Sequence data exploration and manipulation, Tree nomenclature, tree
rooting, trees and distances, trees and character evolution, consensus
trees, networks, Phylogenetic reconstruction methods (distance-matrix
methods, minimum evolution, LS, maximum parsimony, maximum
likelihood and Bayesian inference), Sources and types of errors in
phylogenetic inference.

Academicians / Scientists / Research Scholars and PG Students
working or desirous of working in the area of Molecular Phylogenetics
and Bioinformatics are invited to attend the training course.
