Brain Storming Session on ‘Taxonomy and Phylogeny of Vascular Plants’ 

2 June 2017 

A one-day Brain Storming Session on ‘Taxonomy and Phylogeny of Vascular Plants’ supported by SERB, DST, would be held to review the current status of research in the area. 

It will provide an opportunity for potential Project Investigators (PIs) interested in plant taxonomy to come out with a research idea. 

The Brain Storming Session will consist of: 

(i) Invited lectures and 

(ii) Presentation of concept notes by potential PIs who will be selected based on their concept notes. 

The possible areas of research include but not restricted to: 

Floristics of unexplored/underexplored areas, 
Revisionary/Monographic studies on families/genera, 
Molecular systematics, 
Taxonomy of endemic groups/plants and 
Phylogenetic studies. 

Two members of PAC would monitor the proposals and facilitate their evaluation for funding by SERB-DST. Faculty/scientists interested in submitting proposals (as PIs) may send a concept note with the following details: 

(1) Current research and expertise of applicant (limit 150 words). 

(2) Proposed topic of research (max. 300 words). 

(3) Brief CV (one page), with complete postal address/e-mail/Tel. no. of applicant. 

(4) Publications (max. of 10).
