Summer Training Programme in Environmental Biotechnology (June 5 - 17, 2017) 

The Summer Training Programme in Environmental Biotechnology is a two weeks long hands-on training course offered by the ICMR-National Institute for Research in Environmental Health (ICMR-NIREH), Bhopal. Participants of this programme will experience the excitement of working in a unique academic ambience apt for cutting-edge scientific discourse. During this programme greater emphasis will be laid on the fundamental wet-lab tools and techniques relevant to environmental biotechnology. 

Course Content: 

Basic techniques pertaining to cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology and genetics shall be covered.

2) Purification of RNA 

3) Plasmid DNA isolation 

4) PCR 5) Agarose gel electrophoresis 

6) Mitochondrial DNA isolation and genetics 

7) ELISA 

8) Immuno-cytochemistry 

9) Radial immuno-diffusion 

10) Protein purification 

11) Protein estimation 

12) SDS-PAGE & Western blot analysis 

13) Chromatography (Ion-exchange) 

14) Cloning and transformation 

15) Mammalian primary cell culture 

16) Chromosomal aberration assay 

17) G-banding 

18) Micronuclei assay 

19) Colony forming assays 

Eligibility: Students pursuing post-graduate courses in biological sciences, pharmaceutical sciences and medical sciences are encouraged to apply. Seats: Only 15 students will be admitted to the course. 

Application Procedure: Applications on plain paper (specifying e-mail id and mobile contact number) along with self-attested copies of mark-sheets and certificates must reach to the “Director, ICMR - National Institute for Research in Environmental Health, Kamla Nehru Hospital Building, Gandhi Medical College Campus, Bhopal - 462 001 (MP), India” on or before 26 May, 2017. Selection: Procedure of screening and selection will be based upon academic credentials only. The list of selected candidates will be posted at institute’s website on 26 May, 2017.

 Fees: Registration fee of the course is Rs. 4000/= only. 

No lodging/boarding shall be provided and the participants shall have to make their own arrangements for the same.
