Candidates are invited to attend Walk-In Interview between 9.00 AM to 10.00 AM for the following post on contract basis for the project “Model District for Public Health Preparedness, Surveillance and Response: Multi-Strategic Integrated Approach in Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, India” at NIE as detailed below:

Essential Qualification MD (Microbiology) with one (1) year R&D/ teaching experience OR 

First class Master’s degree in Microbiology/Medical Lab Technology/Allied Health Sciences from a recognized university with four (4) years experience in Microbiology after 1st Class Master’s Degree. OR 

Second class M.Sc + Ph.D degree, in Microbiology/Medical Lab Technology/Allied Health Sciences from a recognized University with four (4) years experience 

Desirable Qualification and Experience 

a. Doctoral degree/Post-doctoral experience in Microbiology/Medical Lab Technology/Molecular Biology/Infectious diseases 
b. Knowledge of Computer Applications/Bioinformatics 

Emoluments Medical: Rs. 64,000/- + HRA Per Month Non-Medical: Rs. 51,000/- + HRA Per Month Notes a. PhD in the relevant subject shall be treated equivalent to three years experience. 

Age Limit 40 years 

Nature of Duties Prospective candidate is a self-starter, with strong commitment and ability to work and good communication skills to work well under pressure and balance competing priorities in a demanding work environment. 

a. To provide support for planning, managing and implementation of laboratory components of the project 
b. Coordinate with district level officials in the implementation of the project 
c. Prepare study protocols/SOPs/teaching and training materials 
d. Supervise data collection, transport, testing, reporting, QA/QC 
e. Prepare daily/weekly and periodic technical reports on status of the programme implementation 
f. Conduct meetings/workshops/training programs 
g. Documentation and maintenance of laboratory records 
h. Any other work assigned by the Director/PI/Co-PI/Superior officer 

Duration 6 months (renewable for the project duration subject to performance and project requirement)

Essential Qualification Graduate in Microbiology/Medical Lab Technology from a recognized university with three years work/research experience from a recognized institution (or) 

Master’s degree in Microbiology/Medical Lab Technology from a recognized university. 

Desirable Qualification and Experience 

1. Hands-on experience in clinical microbiological techniques viz. collection of clinical specimens, processing, culture, bacterial identification, antibiotic sensitivity testing; serological assays viz. ELISA etc. 
2. Experience of working as part of a research project team 

Emoluments Consolidated salary of Rs.31,000/- per month. Age Limit 30 Years for UR Post (No age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC Candidates) 33 Years for OBC Post (including 3 Years age relaxation for OBC) 35 Years for SC/ST Post (including 5 Years age relaxation for SC/ST)

a. Clinical specimen collection (at facility or in field), processing, transport, storage 
b. Culture, Bacterial identification, antibiotic sensitivity testing 
c. Serological testing 
d. Documentation and maintenance of laboratory records e. Bio-waste management 
f. Any other work assigned by the Director/PI/Co-PI/Superior officer 

Duration 6 months (renewable for the project duration subject to performance and project requirement) 

Instructions to the candidates: 
1. Bring the filled in application with one set of xerox copy of qualification and experience certificates. 
2. Age Relaxation is admissible in respect of SC/ST/OBC candidates as per Government of India Rules, in respect of the posts reserved for those categories. 
3. Age concession to the extent of service rendered in ICMR projects will also be admissible for experience and skilled persons. 
4. Candidate should submit all certificates / testimonials in original for verification. Candidates who fail to bring the Original Certificates for written test / Interview will not be considered. 
5. Experience certificate should clearly state the nature of work during the period of employment. 
6. Community/ Caste certificate: Candidates applying under OBC category, shall submit attested copy of OBC Non – Creamy Layer Certificate in specified format, issued within one year from the closing date of application by the appropriate authority. 
7. No- Objection Certificate from the current employer (for Govt./AB/PSU Servants only). 
8. All posts are Contractual for the duration offered. The appointment may be renewed after every specific period of time subject to satisfactory performance and project requirement. 
9. The incumbents selected will have no claim for regular appointments under NIE/ICMR or continuation of his/her services in any other project.
10. TA/DA will not be paid by NIE for attending the written test/ interview. 
11. The Institute reserves the right to fill up or not to fill the advertised posts. The Director/Selection Committee has the right to accept / reject any application without assigning any reason thereof and no recommendation in this matter will be entertained. Canvassing and bringing pressure in any form for short listing, interview and employment will be a disqualification and barred from selection process.
