For the position of Deputy Registrar, University is looking for an outstanding administrative professional. Citizens of the eight SAARC Member States as well as any other country outside SAARC are encouraged to apply for these positions.   3. General Eligibility Conditions :
    1. Assistant Professor:
      1. An Assistant Professor should be a brilliant and highly productive scholar with a great promise to excel in academics.
      Essential Qualifications:
      1. Ph.D. degree from a recognized University/Institution; and Master’s Degree in relevant subject area with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade (for Science subjects); OR with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (for Social Science and Humanities). Post-doctoral research/teaching experience of at least 2 years (excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree).
      Note:
      Teaching/research experience before the award of Ph.D. degree may be counted with following conditions:
      1. Two years of pre-Ph.D. teaching will be counted as equivalent of one year of post-doctoral teaching/research experience.
      1. Post-Ph.D. experience will only be counted if the experience was not obtained while pursuing Ph.D. or other degrees, and was acquired on a regular confirmed position and/or regular full time contractual position with responsibilities of full-time teaching / research.
      Desirable Qualifications:
      1. High quality research publications in reputed journals/books.
      Other Provisions:
      Selection committee could ask the short-listed candidates to make a short class-room type presentation on a given topic at the time of interview so as to assess his/her ability to teach. Ability to teach and communicate effectively with students should form an important component of the assessment of a candidate for a faculty position.
    2. Associate Professor
      1. An Associate Professor should be an established independent researcher with immaculate academic credentials.
      Essential Qualifications:
      1. Ph.D. degree from a recognized University/Institution; and Master’s Degree in relevant subject area with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade (for Science subjects); OR with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (for Social Science and Humanities). Post-doctoral research/teaching experience of at least 6 years (excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree).
      Notes:
      1. Post-Ph.D. experience will only be counted if the experience was not obtained while pursuing Ph.D. or other degrees, and was acquired on a regular confirmed position and/or regular full time contractual position with responsibilities of full-time teaching/ research.
      1. Experience of teaching at the undergraduate level will not be considered as relevant experience.
      Desirable Qualifications:
      1. High quality research publications in journals of repute.
      2. Experience in guiding doctoral research and a productive research group
      3. For laboratory based research in sciences, proven ability to get research funding from National / International granting agencies.
      Other Provisions:
      1. Research and teaching experience during the period a candidate is registered for obtaining Ph.D. degree, will not be considered as relevant experience. However, if a candidate with an M.Phil. / M.Tech. degree was involved in the teaching of post- graduate courses as a regular faculty before enrolling for Ph.D. degree, half of the period of such teaching experience will be considered as a relevant experience.
    3. Professor
      1. A Professor should be an eminent scholar with evidence of outstanding scholarship and international recognition.
      Essential Qualifications:
      1. Ph.D. degree from a recognized University/Institution; and Master’s Degree in relevant subject area with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade (for Science subjects); OR with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade (for Social Science and Humanities). Post-doctoral research and/or postgraduate teaching experience of at least 12 years (excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree).
      Notes:
      1. Post-Ph.D. experience will only be counted if the experience was not obtained while pursuing Ph.D. or other degrees, and was acquired on a regular confirmed position and/or regular full time contractual position with responsibilities of full-time teaching/ research.

    4. Director (Finance)
      Grade IA - (US$ 30,000 to US$ 45,000) Preferred Maximum Age: 51 years (Eight year fixed contract)
      Minimum Educational Qualifications and Experience:
      Master’s degree in Accounting/Commerce/Business Administration with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades, plus at least 15 years related professional experience, of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post, in accounting, budgeting, or fiscal administration in a reputed organization, preferably a University/large academic institution. A professional CA/CPA qualification would be desirable. Successful candidate must have thorough knowledge of the methods, plans, and practices of modern computerized accounting, budgeting and record keeping systems. He/she must have strong interpersonal skills; exceptional writing and speaking skills; strong ethical convictions and a commitment to quality service; and the ability to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
    5. Deputy Registrar
      Grade II – (US$ 18,000 to US$ 30,000) Preferred Maximum Age : 50 years (Five year contract/extendable)
      Minimum Educational Qualifications and Experience:
      Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades, plus at least 6 years related professional experience in University Administration in progressively responsible positions in a University including at least 5 years as Assistant Registrar or above. Successful candidate must have experience in one or more of the following areas: administrative matters, including recruitment, establishment, legal, campus/estate management or materials management – procurement, distribution of materials, import procedures/stores accounting, stock verification or work relating to statutory bodies of the University or admission and examination – pre and post-conduct of examinations, graduation procedures and processes, academic record keeping; thorough knowledge of admissions, transfer credit requirements, degree verification - and thorough knowledge of service matters, regulations and academic standards; ability to understand complex rules and regulations, and ability to apply them in varying circumstances; strong interpersonal skills; exceptional writing and speaking skills; ability to use initiative, establish priorities and meet multiple deadlines; strong ethical convictions and a commitment to quality service; experience with management of an office and evaluation of employees/administration; ability to manage web applications, complex administrative databases and technology-based employees information systems; and the ability to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

    6. Assistant Registrar
      Grade III– (US$ 14,000 to US$ 23,000) Preferred Maximum Age : 50 years (Five year contract/extendable)
      Minimum Educational Qualifications and Experience:
      Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades, plus at least 3 years related professional experience in University/large academic institution in progressively responsible administrative positions in a Registrar’s Office. Desirable is five years of experience in Administration/Accounts/Admission/Vice-Chancellor’s Office as Section Officer or in an equivalent post in a Government department/university/educational or research institution. The successful candidate must have experience in one or more of the following areas: administrative matters, including recruitment, establishment, legal, campus/estate management or materials management – procurement, distribution of materials, import procedures/stores accounting, stock verification or work relating to statutory bodies of the University and academic administration or admission and examination – pre and post-conduct of examinations, graduation procedures and processes, academic record keeping; or experience in managing the Vice Chancellor’s office; thorough knowledge of policies, regulations and academic standards; ability to understand complex rules and regulations, and ability to apply them in varying circumstances; experience with management of an office and evaluation of employees/administration; ability to manage web applications, complex administrative databases and technology-based employees information systems.
      The successful candidate must also have good knowledge of computer applications and internet; strong interpersonal skills; exceptional English writing and speaking skills; strong ethical convictions and a commitment to quality service; and the ability to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

  5. Selection Process :
    All applications will be screened by a Screening committee that will shortlist candidates based upon their academic record and research output. Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview.Ability to teach and communicate effectively with students will form an important component of the assessment of a candidate for a faculty position.   6. Salary, Benefits and Incentives :
    1. Salary package being offered by SAU is highly attractive, compared to what faculty members are offered in Central or State Universities in India. The annual basic salary range at SAU is US$ 15,000 - 20,000 for the position of Assistant Professor, US$ 20,000 - 30,000 for the position of Associate Professor and US$ 30,000 - 40,000 - 45,000 for the position of Professor. The annual basic salary range to Director (F) isU$ 30000 - 45000, Deputy Registrar isUS$ 18,000 - 30,000and for Assistant Registrar is US$ 14000 - 23000 for the position of Selected candidates who meet the minimum essential criteria of qualifications and experience will be offered a basic salary in the beginning of the pay range. Higher starting basic salary may be offered to candidates with significantly greater experience than the minimum required for the position. Salary fixation shall be as per the guidelines for
    1. Allowances : To the basic salary will be added a dearness allowance (currently 109% of the basic salary, revised twice every year), House rent allowance (25% of the basic) and contribution to pension fund (10% of the basic salary) as per rules.
    1. Annual increment : A 3% annual increment in basic salarywill be provided.
    1. Tax exemption : Salary and allowances of faculty members of SAU are exempt from Indian income tax.
    1. Recurring Research Grant (RRG): The University provides a sum of US $ 2000 per year to all faculty members as “Recurring Research Grant”. These funds may be used for buying books, research material and professional travel to attend conferences, seminars, workshops and field work.
    1. Start-up funds : For faculty members whose research-work depends upon the availability of substantial research funds, there is a provision of a start-up research grant for up to first three years, as a stop-gap measure for the period in which they shall be required to apply for their own research grants from national and international granting agencies.
    1. Health coverage : The University offershealth benefit schemes as per SAU Rules/ Regulations.
    1. Relocation allowance : Newly appointed faculty members and an employee belonging to Grade I to IIIare entitled to a relocation allowance for travel to Delhi along with their family members, and for covering the cost of transporting household goods and luggage as per SAU Regulations. The allowance (upper limit of one month’s basic salary) will be payable upon submission of receipts of actual expenses on travel and transportation of household goods.
    1. Carry home salaries : Salaries are paid in Indian Rupees. On the minimum of the salary ranges mentioned above, the salary of a Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor would respectively be approximately INR194,630/-per month, INR 259,510/- per month and INR 389,270/- per month (inclusive of basic salary, DA and HRA but exclusive of Pension Fund Contribution) at the current dollar exchange rate of US$ 65.70. As mentioned above salaries and allowances are exempt from Indian Income Tax. Salary for Director (Finance), Deputy Registrar and Assistant Registrar would respectively be approximately INR 389,270/-INR 233,560/- per month and INR 181,660/- (inclusive of basic salary, DA and HRA but exclusive of Pension Fund Contribution) at the current dollar exchange rate of US$ 65.70. Regularization and Promotion Policy for Non teaching staff is likely to be approved in near future.
    1. At the time of initial recruitment at entry level, the faculty member will be offered a contract appointment for five years. At the end of the contract period, the academic performance, in addition to contribution to University corporate life, of the faculty member will be evaluated. A favourable assessment will result in regularization of the services of the faculty member.
    1. Appointment to Non Teaching position will initially be made for five years out of which first one year would be the probation period. Regulation and promotion policy for Non teaching staff is likely to be approved in near future.
  7. Visa: SAU will sponsor selected candidates, who are not citizens of India, for special SAU Visa from the Government of India
  8. Leave : SAU has provision for duty leave, casual leave, earned leave, medical leave and sabbatical leave as per the University’s Rules, Regulations and Byelaws.
  9. Duties and Responsibilities
    1. In all matters, faculty members will follow University Rules, Regulations and Bye-laws laid down by the Executive Council and Governing Board from time to time.

      SAU follows a 40-hour work week with holidays on Saturdays and Sundays and some other notified holidays. An average of at least 10 credits of teaching contact hours per semester is a minimum essential eligibility condition for faculty promotion. Tutorial / laboratory contact hours may be extra. Teachers are expected to regularly update the contents of the courses they teach in view of the new knowledge that becomes available from time to time in their areas of teaching and research. In addition, they will evaluate the performance of students and conduct / guide their research work.
    1. A faculty member is expected to:
    1. Apply for and obtain external funding to enable development of independent research as well as to develop links with other departments across the University and elsewhere.
    2. Have the ability to teach effectively over a range of topics at the post-graduate level, not exclusively in the area of his/her research expertise, in lectures, lab sessions and tutorials.
    3. Supervise the research of students registered for a Master’s or M.Phil/Ph.D. program.
    1. Faculty members are also expected to contribute to various institution-building tasks implicit in the growth of SAU. For example, faculty colleagues may be called upon to share some administrative responsibilities including working on various university committees, and expert groups, participating / overseeing extra-curricular activities of students or other duties assigned by the University authorities from time to time. Faculty members may also be required to devote part of the vacation period for work related to admissions and evaluation.
