Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture (RGCA), an Aquaculture Technology Incubation Centre of Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Govt. of India is organizing a 2-day hands-on training programme on “Aquaculture Disease Diagnosis using PCR” at Sirkali, Tamil Nadu from 27th to 28th November, 2017.

The main objective of this short-term training programme is to impart hands-on training on basic molecular techniques to develop trained manpower who could utilize the techniques to detect pathogens affecting aquaculture species and causing havoc. The Central Aquaculture Pathology Laboratory (CAPL) of RGCA is a well-equipped laboratory and is the first aquaculture pathology laboratory in India accredited by NABL as per ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Some of the important concepts and components that will be covered in the programme are: 
§ Common aquaculture diseases and their detection strategies, 
§ Demo for tissue sample collection for aquaculture disease diagnosis, 
§ DNA extraction, 
§ Quality and quantity determination of extracted DNA, 
§ Gel electrophoresis, § DNA amplification (PCR) to detect OIE listed disease/pathogens. 
§ Demonstration of basic of Histopathology. (Around 80% of the training will involve hands-on practical).

The registration fee is Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two thousand only). This is inclusive of course material (protocol handouts), working lunch, tea & snacks for the entire training period. The fee does not include travel, boarding, lodging and other personal expenses. The last date for registration is 23rd November, 2017.
