IISc Neuroscience Project Opening | helpBIOTECH Exclusive

project assistant position is available in the spatial navigation lab in the Centre for Neuroscience, IISc (http://www.cns.iisc.ac.in/sachin).

People with either quantitative background (engineering/ physics/ mathematics/computer science) and ability to program (python/ C/ C++/ matlab) or

background in any branch of biological sciences are encouraged to apply.

Willingness to work with rodents (mice) is a must.

Experience in working with animals is preferred, but not essential.

The lab is interested in understanding hippocampal function.

We perform in vivo recordings of neuronal activity in the hippocampus and the entorhinal cortex in freely behaving rodents in order to understand how they create representation of space, and how this representation is affected in Alzheimer's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder.

The work involves hardware design and manufacture, software (for experiment control as well as quantitative analysis) as well as performing actual implantation surgeries, neural recordings and behavioral experiments followed by histology to localize electrodes. People working in the lab get trained in these techniques.
