Walk-in Interview to engage Research Personnel
The Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) is a Centre of Excellence under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of Ornithology and Natural History. SACON wishes to engage research personnel (Indian National only) under various categories for the following research programmes through a walk-in interview on 26.02.2018
1.A study on bird hazards and its mitigation measures required at the multi-sector SEZ located near RGI Airport, Hyderabad
     Name of the Position: Junior Research Biologist (2 Nos.); 
Age: Shall not exceed 28 years on the stipulated last date for receiving applications. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and Physically Challenged applicants. 
Duration: Six months from the date of engagement and may be extended for further periods on the basis of requirement of the project; 
Fellowship: Rs. 25,000 plus HRA; 
Essential Qualification: Minimum 55% marks in Masters’ Degree in Zoology / Botany/ Wildlife Science / Ecology / Environmental Science from a recognized University; 
Desirable Qualification: i) Knowledge/work experience in bird studies, Geographic Information System (GIS); ii) Proficiency in Telugu. 
Description of Work: The project aims to study the bird hazards at the Hyderabad Airport SEZThe selected candidates should be capable of putting strenuous field work, and carry out ecological data collection, analysis and report writing.
2.Ecological Investigation and socio-economic valuation of pit lakes in Eastern Coal Fields, India: implications for conservation and sustainable use.
Name of the Position: Project Fellow (1 No.); 
Age: Shall not exceed 28 years on the stipulated last date for receiving applications. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and Physically Challenged applicants. 
Duration: Eight months from the date of engagement and may be extended for further periods on the basis of requirements of the project; 
Fellowship: Rs. 15,000 per month (consolidated); 
Essential Qualification: Minimum 55% marks in Masters’ Degree in Life Sciences or allied subjects from a recognized University; 
Desirable Qualification: i) Two years experience in water sample analysis (general and heavy metals), ii) familiarity with research on Indian birds and ornithology. 
Description of Work: The Project Fellow is expected to assist the Principal Investigator in achieving the following tasks: 
i) to collect and analyze water samples from OCP lakes in eastern coal fields region. ii) to assist PI during OCP lake study (ecology, biodiversity and conservation). 

 GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
  1. Candidates applying for any of the above positions should possess the Essential Qualification as per the details given against the position. Candidates willing to apply for more than one advertised positions should submit separate filled-in application form along with photocopies of all testimonials.
  2. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and Physically Challenged category as per Central Government norms.
  3. Selected candidate will be engaged initially for a period mentioned against the advertised position. Subsequently his/her tenure may be extended depending upon the exigencies of work at sole discretion of the Centre and satisfactory performance of the candidate.
  4. Selected candidate may be allowed hostel accommodation at SACON as per availability. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules.
  5. The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on the walk-in interview to be held at SACON, Moongilpallam, Anaikatty, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 26.02.2018. Candidates should report to the venue at 09.00 am on the interview day.
  6. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
  7. The Centre will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
