Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the following position in National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) funded collaborative research project between Sikkim University (SU) and Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE): 

Title of the project: “Key ecosystem services and biodiversity components in socio-ecological landscapes of Darjeeling - Sikkim Himalaya: Deriving management & policy inputs and developing mountain biodiversity information system” 

Research Associate: (Rs.40,000/- + HRA 8% per month) 02 

Sikkim University (01) and ATREE, Gangtok (01) 

Ph.D. in Life Sciences/ Environmental Science/ Environmental management or allied disciplines 

Experience of working on biodiversity in mountain environment, working knowledge of GIS, ecological modelling, R, etc. 

Junior Research Fellow: (JRF @ Rs.25,000/- + HRA 8% per month for first two years and RS.28,000/- + HRA 8% for third year subject to performance) 

05 Sikkim University (03) and ATREE, Gangtok (02) 

First class Masters Degree in Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Environmental Science/ Environmental management or allied disciplines with NET 

Experience of working on biodiversity in mountain environment, working knowledge on GIS, ecological modelling, etc. Non-NET candidates can apply and will be considered as Junior Project Fellow (JPF). Fellowship for JPF will be as per the norms of Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India 

Duration: Initially for one year but extendable upto three years or up to the termination of project whichever is earlier, subject to annual performance review.
