Walk-in Interview to engage Research Biologists 
Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) is a premier research centre under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, in the field of Ornithology and Natural History. SACON wishes to engage Seven (7) research personnel (Indian national only) for a time-bounded research project titled “Characterization of Community Reserves and Assessment of their Conservation Values in Meghalaya” through a Walk-in Interview on 04-06-2018. The details of the available positions along with essential and desirable qualifications and how to apply are given below:
Name of the Positions and experience required. 
2.       Junior Project Biologists (Mammology, Ornithology & Herpetology) – 03 Nos.
Essential Qualification: Minimum 55% marks in Masters’ Degree in Zoology / Wildlife Sciences /Ecology & Environmental Sciences/Biodiversity & Conservation / Forestry/Environmental Sciences/ Environmental Management/ Life Sciences from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification: Knowledge/work experience in field ecological studies and GIS and willingness to work in Meghalaya.
Age: Shall not exceed 28 years on the stipulated last date for receiving applications. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women.
Duration: Initially for one year but extendable up to two more years or up to the termination of project whichever is earlier, subject to annual performance review.
Fellowship: Rs. 25,000/ per month plus HRA
Description of Work: The selected candidate is expected to undertake studies on relevant taxa as per the requirements of the project in different community reserves of Meghalaya and assist the Principal Investigator in project activities.
3.       Junior Project Biologist (Botany/Forestry) – 02 Nos.
Essential Qualification: Minimum 55% marks in Masters’ Degree in Botany / Forestry/Wildlife Sciences/ Ecology & Environmental Sciences/Biodiversity & Conservation /Environmental Sciences/ Environmental Management/ Life Sciences from a recognized University.
Desirable Qualification: Knowledge/work experience in plant taxonomical studies, willingness to work in Meghalaya.
Age: Shall not exceed 28 years on the stipulated last date for receiving applications. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women.
Duration: Initially for one year but extendable up to two more years or up to the termination of project whichever is earlier, subject to annual performance review.

Description of Work: The selected candidate is expected to undertake vegetation (structural and compositional) studies as per the requirements of the project in different community reserves of Meghalaya and assist the Principal Investigator in project activities.

Interested candidates, who fulfil all essential qualifications, can attend the Walk-in-Interview to be conducted at SACON Campus on 04.06.2018. Candidates should report to the venue at 09.00 AM on the date of interview for registration and should submit duly filled-in application forms with recent passport-size photograph affixed, along with self-attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, date of birth, community, extracurricular activities etc. All original documents in support of qualifications, age etc. should be produced at the time of interview for verification.
GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS
  1. Candidates applying for the above position should possess the Essential Qualification as per the details given. Candidates willing to apply for more than one advertised positions should submit separate filled-in application form along with photocopies of all testimonials.
  2. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and Physically Challenged category as per Central Government norms.
  3. Selected candidate will be engaged initially for a period mentioned against the advertised position. Subsequently his/her tenure may be extended depending upon the exigencies of work at sole discretion of the Centre and satisfactory performance of the candidate.
  4. Selected candidate may be allowed hostel accommodation at SACON as per availability. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules.
  5. The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on the walk-in interview to be held at SACON, Moongilpallam, Anaikatty, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 04.06.2018. Candidates should report to the venue at 09.00 AM on the interview day for registration.
  6. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.
  7. The Centre will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
