JOINT DBT- CDTI E.P.E. CALL FOR PROPOSALS UNDER
THE INDO-SPANISH PROGRAMME FOR TECHNOLOGICAL CO-OPERATION
IN THE FIELD OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
A Joint Programme for Co-operation signed by the Department of Biotechnology of India
(DBT) and the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI E.P.E.) on
November 22nd, 2011. The objective of the joint Indo-Spanish programme is to promote and
fund market-driven research and technology development. The programme also
encourages dynamic partnerships and business-Ied R&D&I collaborative projects in the
field of biotechnology. The DBT and CDTI E.P.E. have agreed to launch the 5
th joint IndiaSpain
Call for Technological Cooperation in Biotechnology, aiming to proposals in the field
of Food Biotechnology and Agri Biotech. The call aims to commence ambitious joint
projects of a high international standard between Indian and Spanish organizations.
THEMATIC AREAS
This Call for proposals invites R&D projects in the following fields:
1. Food Biotechnology with following thematic areas:
a. Future probiotics: Towards sustainable & efficient nutrient partitioning.
b. Enzyme(s) driven strategies for enhanced functionality of food.
c. Enzyme(s) driven strategies for food production and processing.
d. Precision nutrition: Bio-fortification of vitamins and micronutrients || Infant
developmental needs.
e. Translating omic-technologies towards sustainable & improved food
functionalities & enhanced food or by-products productivity.
f. Biotechnology-based micro or nanoscale biosensors: Assuring safety of agrifood
products || Dairy products || Poultry products.
g. Biotechnology-based efficient, low-cost, sustainable and scalable, vegetables
and horticulture conservation and storage systems.
2. Agri Biotech, research which directly impacts on crop resilience, helps to combat
disease and increases yield - benefiting both agriculture and the environment:
a. Precision agriculture.
b. Crop yield || resilience || quality.
(Note: Crop research, drives through genetic manipulation has been excluded from
the scope of this call)
TYPE OF PROPOSALS
Industry-driven and market-oriented R&D projects, joint technological co-operation projects
between investigators from academic/research organizations and/or industries in India and
industries in Spain consisting in the development or substantial improvement of new
products, processes or services will be considered.
Duration of projects: from 2 years up to 3 years.

Deadline for Submission of completed applications: 1
st October 2018 (INDIA – 20:30 IST /
SPAIN 17:00 CET)
Funding Decisions: December 2018
WHO CAN APPLY?
Minimum eligibility criteria: at least one qualified partner from India and one qualified
partner from Spain (1 company from Spain + 1 entity from India).
