Brief Description about the Project:
  • This study is collaboration between the University of California San Francisco and St. John’s Research Institute, funded by the US National Institute of Mental Health. This cluster RCT is designed to implement and evaluate an intervention to primary health centres on outcomes in patients dually diagnosed with mental illness and cardiovascular disease/diabetes in 50 Primary Health Clinics in rural Karnataka.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Blood collection
  • Centrifuge of samples
  • Proper storage of samples
  • Travel to Ramanagara district daily
Key Skills:
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to handle phlebotomy tasks in the field (Ramanagara district) as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of participant samples, lab reports and referrals
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Kannada and English
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
Specific Activities:
  • Perform safe blood collection for all participants and prepare samples to be sent for testing
  • Assist the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and Field Coordinator with procurement and shipment of all laboratory project supplies that are needed on site
  • Assisting Data Manager in maintaining all laboratory data
  • Perform the inventory and other office work as needed
