Workshop on Recent Trend in Taxonomy
10 -11 January 2019

As part of the 20 Aichi Targets of CBD under the strategic Goal C: Safeguard ecosystems,
species and genetic diversity clearly emphasizes on issues related to conservation of terrestrial and
inland water, coastal, marine areas; prevent extinction of threatened species and maintain genetic
diversity of agro-plants, domesticated animals and minimizing genetic erosion, and to achieve the
above, taxonomy plays a major role in biodiversity conservation.
Towards this endeavor, the Zoological Survey of India, under the aegis of the All India
Coordinated Project on Taxonomy of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change,
Government of India is organizing a National Workshop on Recent Trend in Taxonomy on 10 -11
January 2019 at Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Applications are invited from early to mid-career researchers in universities, colleges, and
research institutes, postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. students for participation in the Workshop. Posters from
are solicited under the broad themes of the Workshop ‘Recent Trend in Taxonomy’. The deadline for
the submission of electronic abstracts is on 4th January 2019 (email to: technical@zsi.gov.in/
director@zsi.gov.in). The participants shall be informed about the acceptance of the abstract and the
confirmation of their participation in the workshop will be informed by email latest by 5th January 2019.
The organizers will make arrangement provide shared accommodation during the period of the
Workshop and travel cost by train III AC by shortest route will be reimbursed to the selected
participants.
