The term "Climate
Change" proposed by world Meteorological Organisation (WMO) in
1966 was incorporated in the title of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC) which now has become synonymous with anthropogenic global warming.
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century along with
the increased global population and environmental degradation. It is no longer
a scientific concern alone but involves economics, sociology, law and health
which directly impact the global sustainability. The role of the Federal
Government of India, Department of Industry and Mining, Department of Climate
Change & Department of Environment and Forest, Educational Institutions
along with start-ups and SME sector is of utmost importance in addressing the
issues of Climate Change Impacts Management.Therefore, it is an apt time to
deliberate on Climate Change Impacts Management.
Objectives:

To explore and to
exchange state-of-the-art knowledge on climate change science, innovations,
integrated approaches, adaptation strategies, disaster risk reduction, planning
and management and vulnerability and impact assessment tools among regional
stakeholders specifically in environment sectors
·
To gather scientific
information, experiences and identify knowledge gaps on common, urgent and
emergent issues related Climate Change
·
To identify
location-specific knowledge (GUJARAT) and adaptation strategies that may be
upscaled to other regions.
·
To promote National
and International partnerships and linkages among different sectors for
collaborative activities for Centre for Environment and Natural Resources being
established under the aegis of Gujarat University- Park for Industrial
Extension and Research (GU-PIER).
·
To provide a unique
platform to eminent Professionals, Scientists, Researchers, Academicians, and
Entrepreneurs across the globe to participate, present their real time work and
share their expertise, research advancements and new technologies through oral
and poster presentations, technical sessions, competition, debate and
discussions.

To create awareness
among all about the importance of Management of Impacts due to Climate Change.
