IIT Hyderabad Haemoglobin Sensor Project Openings

We are seeking applications for the post of Project Assistant/ Associate and Research Associate for the project titled “ Minimally invasive mobile healthcare platform for Glycated Hemoglobin” . The abstract of the project is given below.

Abstract: The project is intended to demonstrate mobile based healthcare platform for glycated haemoglobin (GHb) and haemoglobin (Hb) comprising paper based colorimetric sensors in conjunction with mobile ported image processing algorithms for extracting concentration information from the image of the sensor(s). Unlike detection of Hb which is relatively straightforward, detection of GHb involves isolation of the same from Hb. Boronic acid moieties are known to bind to glycated hemoglobin and their interaction results in a local change in the pH. Using pH sensitive colorimetric, boronic acid modified nanofibers, isolation and detection of glycated hemoglobin can be carried out simultaneously. The proposed methodology is envisioned to give the reading with a camera click in a mobile app and is devoid of any interferences. The proposed work inherently has two products – one for hemoglobin and one for percentage glycated hemoglobin. Hb sensor can potentially be a traiging tool for rural health care to detect anemia.

There are two posts in this project. The details of eligibility are given below.

Project Assistant/Associate: The primary responsibility here is the development of paper based device for hemoglobin and glycated hemoglobin.
