Admission Procedure:

Applicants should complete the online application form with non-refundable admission processing fee of Rs.1,000/-. University prefers cashless payment method for all payments. However, we also accept fee in Cash / DD to be paid directly at our office. DD should be drawn in favour of “The Registrar, University of IAR” payable at Gandhinagar. Eligibility:

A Master's degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent Grade “B” in the UGC 7 Point Scale. A relaxation of 5% is given to students belonging to Reserved Category (ST/SC/OBC/PH). Candidates appearing in final year examination can also apply provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria by July 15th, 2019.

Selection Process:


The admission to PhD Programme will be done through PhD Entrance Test (PET) via two stages:

1. Written Test:

The applicants are required to appear for the Written Test to be conducted by the Institute of Advanced Research. However, the candidates who are UGC-CSIR NET, ICMR JRF/SRF, LTMT/SLAT/GATE/GPAT/Teacher Fellowship/M.Phil and equivalent are exempted from the Written Test. The Written Test will be conducted at Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar on June 28th, 2019 between 11.00 am to 1.00 pm.

The Written test will have questions in two sections as given below:

Section I: Research Methodology and General aptitude (Common for all the departments)
Section II: Subjects specific questions from the department. (Department/Subject Specific)
Both the sections will carry 50-50% weightage.

Each Section will carry 50 Question of 1 mark each and total duration of the Written Test will be two hour. The Test will be objective type with multiple choice questions.

Those who secure at least 50% marks in the Written Test (45% marks in case of Reserved Category) will be shortlisted for the interview in order of merit. The List of candidates eligible for the personal interview will be displayed on the University Notice board at 5.00 pm on June 28th, 2019)

2. Personal Interview:

Eligible Candidates in the Written Test and Exempted candidates will be called for interview 29th June (starting at 10.00 am). The final selection for admission would be based on the candidate’s performance in the written test and personal interview (equal weightage).

b) The list of selected student will be displayed on University’s website and notice board on 29th June, 2019 at 6.00 pm.

Important Dates:

a) Last date for submitting the Application Form for PET 2019: June 7th, 2019
b) PET Written test: June 28th, 2019 (11.00 am -1.00 pm)
c) Personal interview and declaration of results: June 29th, 2019
d) The Offer letters for admission July 5th, 2019
e) Formal application to PhD programme along with fee: July 12th, 2019.

Registration fee: Rs.10,000/-
Semester fee for Semester I: Rs.20,000/-
Caution money: Rs.10,000/-. (Refundable)
