Invites applications for Summer Training - 2010
Objectives The aim is to let young minds feel the thrill and excitement of science by working on a project requiring application and critical appreciation of scientific principles.
It also aims at active participation in the learning process through experimentation and putting into practice the knowledge acquired in the classrooms. The program gives students an opportunity to gain research experience and work closely with a scientist.
Programme: Period of training: March to August 2010 (minimum 2 months

Eligibility :
Ø The Student must be pursuing Postgraduate course from a recognized University/ institute /college in the relevant area.
Ø He/ She must have secured at least 60% marks throughout his/ her academic career (From High School onwards).
Ø Training should be essential for the candidate’s course curriculum. Summer Training / Project Work (PW) / Dissertation Work (DW)
[Those who are pursuing undergraduate courses including four years B.Tech programmes are NOT eligible for this Summer Training Programme.]
How to apply
Ø Application in plain paper mentioning applicant’s name, address for correspondence, e-mail address, phone number are required to be indicated.
Ø Bio-Data and academic records of the Student mentioning percentage of marks obtained in different examinations from school final onwards indicating name of the college/University/Institute where studied. (Do not send photo copy of the results)
Ø Marks obtained in grade point, if any, is required to be calculated in terms of percentage.
Ø Only hard copy of the documents will be accepted.
Ø Original Copy of the Recommendation Letter of the Principal/Registrar /Head of the Institution /University, mentioning the training programme sought is essential for the candidate’s course curriculum.
Ø Area(s) in which training is requested is to be mentioned. [Different areas of ongoing Research work can be available at IICB website www.iicb.res.in].
Ø Date & Period of ST /PW /DW applied for [Recommendation letter from HOD/Principal must indicate the period of training]
Ø Applications are to be sent by post in the following address or may be delivered to the Receiving & Dispatch Section, IICB. The envelope containing the above documents is to be super scribed as SUMMER TRAINING-2010.
Dates to be remember
When To Apply Applications for the above training programme-2010 will be received only during the period from 17th September to 18th November 2009.
Selection / Result After screening the valid applications and subject to availability of accommodation in different scientist’s laboratory, name of the selected candidates will be posted in IICB web site www.iicb.res.in tentatively in the 3rd week of January 2010.
Training Fees & Accommodation
Ø There are no fees or tuition costs associated with participation in the summer training /project work or dissertation.
Ø The students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation in Kolkata, if selected.
