Stipend: Rs.15000/- per month consolidated. No other allowance is admissible.

Leave: The interns shall be entitled 30 days leave in a year and shall avail leave with the permission of the competent authority (i.e. 2.5 day leave after completion of each month)

Tenure: Maximum period of 02 yrs not extendable under any circumstances and subject to satisfactory performance to be evaluated every 06 months. The interns shall have no claim for further extension, absorption or regularization in CSIR after the expiry / termination of the internship.

Mode of Selection: Candidates must report at the NISCAIR reception desk at 9.00 A.M. (Candidates will not be entertained after 9.30 A.M.). The selection of the RIs would be based on (a) academic records, and/ or (b) performance in the test and (c) interview. Chronobiology is an interdisciplinary field that deals with oscillatory phenomena in living organisms and their adaptation to geophysical cycles. Approaches in chronobiological studies encompass comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, reproduction, ecology, evolution, molecular biology and ethology.

This year’s SERB School will be hosted at the Mangalore University’s Department of Biosciences. The school will provide insights into basic concepts underlying biological clocks. There will be lectures on concepts and applications in animals and humans and simple experiments with hands-on experience of chronobiological experiment design, data collection and analysis.
