Project Title and code Collection, Identification, maintenance of National Repository of Marine Species. -- GAP2042 for 12 months
Essential Qualifications MSc in Applied Microbiology. Minimum two years research experience in marine microbiology.
Desiarables Experience in isolation and identification of marine microbes from sediments & marine organisms, phylogenic identification of micro organisms. Knowledge of chromatographic techniques. Working knowledge on computers is desirable. Knowledge of handling instruments such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, spectrophotometer, autoclave, centrifuge, etc.
Job requirement Participation in fieldwork for the collection of marine organisms from the coasts of India. Isolation and maintenance of microbial cultures. Preparation of crude extracts for biological screening, mass culture of microorganisms and bio-assay guided isolation of antimicrobial compounds. The candidate should assist the project leader in preparation of reports and should be able to work independently.
