BKSC Jalna Training Program on Statistical Analysis

The Barwale Foundation, a not for profit organization is conducting a training program on “Statistical Analysis” from the 5th through 7th of Jan, 2010 at Jalna. At a broad level, the program targets students and practitioners of plant breeding & genetics. Specifically, crop breeders and biotechnologists would be benefited.

The program will cover the following topics:

1. Introduction to fundamental concepts in statistical methods
2. Principles of experimental design & basic experimental designs
3. Analysis of variance and mean comparison
4. Partitioning sums of squares
5. Data transformation
6. Missing data
7. Regression and correlation

This is the sixth module in the “Biotechnology Training Courses” series and the course fee pegged at Rs. 5,000 (exclusive of travel & stay). The Barwale Foundation can help trainees in securing accommodation in nearby hotels at reasonable rates.

Being a basic course, the trainees are expected to have some exposure to crop data & a background in breeding, genetics, and or plant biotechnology. Prior experience of using a “PC” (windows & spreadsheet) and basic understanding of statistics would be an added advantage.
