The Department of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, Loyola College, Chennai, with 60 years of existence, has been recognized as a center for research in the field of Plant Science and Biotechnology. The research unit of Plant Biotechnology has been providing hands-on-training on Plant Tissue Culture and Plant Molecular Biology to College and School Teachers since 2006.
The Workshop
The Department proposes to conduct a Short Term Training Course (21 days) on ‘Molecular Techniques in Plant Sciences’ for college teachers. The Workshop will help college teachers of Life Sciences and Biotechnology to update their laboratory skills, improve technical knowledge and further enhance their teaching skills. The highlight of the workshop is to provide individual hands-on exposure to techniques in plant tissue culture, molecular biology, immunotechnology and phytochemistry.
Eligibility: Faculty teaching undergraduate students in Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology and Microbiology) and Biotechnology at any Indian University/College are invited to attend the course.
Selection procedure: First-come-first-served basis on producing proof of eligibility. Number of participants is limited to 15.
Only two faculties from the same department would be eligible to participate. Course material will be provided.
