Ministry of Environment and Forests requires the services of Scientists, on Direct Recruitment Basis for twelve (12) posts and on Deputation Basis including Short-Term Contract for eleven (11) posts as detailed below:
B. Ministry of Environment & Forests - Scientist - C - 08 posts - (Pay Band PB-3 of Rs.15,600- 39,100 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/-

Essential Educational Qualification and ExperienceMaster's Degree in Environmental Sciences from a recognized University, with three years working experience in the field of conservation of flora, fauna, forestry and wildlife, afforestation and regeneration of degraded areas and protection of environment.
Desirable qualifications PhD in Environmental Sciences
Duties and Job requirements
1. Policy planning and coordination for environmental protection
2. Afforestation and regeneration of degraded areas and protection of environment
3. Eco-regeneration, assistance to organisations implementing environmental and forestry research, extension, education and training to augment the requisite manpower, dissemination and creation of environmental awareness among all sectors of the country's population
C. BOTANICAL SURVEY OF INDIA - Scientist - C (Pay Band PB-3 of Rs.15,600-39,100 with Grade Pay of Rs.6600/-

Essential Educational Qualification and Experience Master’s degree in Botany from a recognized University with three years experience in research/teaching in the field of taxonomy of Angiosperms/Bryophytes/ Lichens/Fungi/Algae.
Desirable qualifications
1. Doctorate in Botany from a recognized university;
2. Knowledge of International Code of Plant Nomenclature,
3. Working knowledge of any of the foreign languages - Latin, German, French and Russian, and
4. Area of Experience - Taxonomy of any one of the fields - Angiosperms/Algae/ Fungi/Lichens /Bryophytes.
Duties & Job Requirements
(i) To identify plants.
(ii) To prepare scientific reports on field or herbarium specimens.
(iii) To undertake field excursions.
(iv) To supervise the work of Scientific Assistants & Technical Assistants.
(v) Identification of specimens in the Regional/National Herbaria.
(vi) Preparation of Floristic accounts of the collections of Algae/Fungi/ Lichens/Bryophytes/ Pteridophytes/Gymnosperms/Angiosperms.
(vii) Help and assistance to the Office-in-charge of the Office and
(viii) Any other duties that may be assigned to him from time to time.Place of Posting: Kolkata, with liability to be posted anywhere in India.
F. National River Conservation Directorate, Scientist - B (Pay Band PB-3 of Rs.15,600-39,100 with grade pay of Rs.5400/- [Pre-revised scale Rs. 8,000-13,500])- By Deputation/Short Term Contract
(x) Post No. 10/NRCD - 01 post (Deputation)
Essential Educational qualificationMaster’s Degree in Environmental Science/Chemistry/Ecology from a recognized University of Institute
Desirable qualification1. Ph.D. in Environmental Science/Chemistry/Ecology
2. Two years working/research experience in the relevant field
Duties and Job requirements for all the posts mentioned above
1. Development of Plans and implementation of activities for prevention, control and abatement of Pollution and conservation of the river Ganga
2. Monitoring of Water Quality, River Ecology, Environmental Pollution and investigations and research in these areas.
3. Planning and Execution of programme related to Sewerage Infrastructure, Catchment Area treatment, protection of flood plains
4. Planning and Implementation of water conservation practices, including recycling and reuse, rain water harvesting and decentralized sewage treatment systems
