Special Drive for Admission to Full-time PhD Programme for SC/ST/OBC Candidates
Applications are invited from eligible SC/ST/OBC candidates for admission to Full-time PhD programme in the following departments:
Biotechnology, Humanities (Economics), Chemical Engineering, Management Studies, Chemistry Mathematics Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Science & Engineering Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Electrical Engineering Physics Electronics & Communication Engineering
ELIGIBILITY
1. M. Tech./ M.E. in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate in the M.E./ M. Tech. level from a recognized technical institute or university.
2. B. Tech/ B.E./ MCA in relevant discipline with at least 7.0 CGPA or 65 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university.
3. M. Sc./ M. Com./ MBA/ PGDBM/ PGDM in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks or equivalent in aggregate from a recognized institute or university.
4. M.A. in relevant discipline with at least 6.0 CGPA or 55 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized institute or university.
5. ICWAI/ CA/ PGDM from IIMs without any restriction with respect to marks.
6. MBBS without any restriction with respect to marks.
7. The minimum CGPA/marks shall be relaxed by 0.5 CGPA or 5 percent in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories.
8. A valid GATE / NET qualification is mandatory for candidates not having M. Tech./ M.E. degree.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Scholarships as per MHRD norms are available to the Full-time Institute Research Scholars depending on qualification.
SELECTION
Application in prescribed format as appended below must reach the undersigned on or before 04.06.2010. The envelope ontaining the application should be superscribed “Application for full-time Ph.D. Programme (2010-11) in Department of __________”. The application must accompany copies of all relevant documents without which it may be rejected.

A list of short-listed candidates will be posted on Institute website on 29.06.2010. Selection will be made on the basis of performance in a written test in the concerned department and interview, qualification, academic records and research area. The date of test and interview will be intimated later in the website.
No traveling allowances will be paid to the candidates called for interview and the test.
