Reference to our earlier advertisement uploaded on 19th March 2011 to fill up following Scientific vacancies at National Institute of Virology and its Units at different parts of the country. Due to revision of Recruitment Rules, the column of Essential Qualifications for Serial No. 2 and Serial No.4 (except Medical) has been revised. In view of this, the last date for receipt of applications is extended up to 7th May 2011 for these two positions only. Qualifications Essential :
1. MBBS / M.V.Sc Degree recognized by MCI / VCI or equivalent degree from a recognized University OR 1st Class Masters Degree in relevant subject from a recognized University OR 2nd Class Masters Degree + Ph. D degree in relevant subject from a recognized University
2. 4 years R&D experience in the related subject.
Desirable : 1. Doctorate Degree in relevant subject.
2. Additional post doctoral research / teaching experience in relevant subject.
3. Knowledge of Computer Applications / Data Management
Job Requirement : Post 1. Designing and conducting molecular tests for diagnosis of viral diseases and molecular experimental studies.
Post 2. Screening of antivirals including plant products and understanding mechanisms involved.
Post 3. Production of biological reagents and diagnostic kits in GLP and GMP conditions.Age : Below 40 Years

Post.1: Conducting Field, Laboratory & statistical work related to epidemiological investigations.
Post.2: Production of recombinant proteins, expression of genes etc.
Post.3: Diagnosis of viral infections and characterization of viruses.
Post 4 : Cloning & expression of Genes.
Post.5 : ImmunologyAge : Below 35 Years
Age relaxation up to 5 years is allowed for Government Servants and SC/ST – 5 years, OBC – 3 years and PH – 10 years in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to time. Crucial date for calculating the age will be 1st March 2011. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH and OBC (Non-Creamy layer) should furnish their certificates in the prescribed format failing which their application will not be considered.
Ph.D or MD Degree in relevant subject shall be treated equivalent to 3 Years experience. Candidates with MD or Ph.D. or M.Tech. in relevant subject shall be preferred.
Pay & other allowances are admissible as per ICMR rules. Benefit of new restructured defined contributory Pension System is admissible for new entrants as per provision contained in the Ministry of Finance, Dept. of Economic Affair (ECB & PR Divn.), Notification No. 5/7/2003-ECB & PR dated 22.12.2003 effective from 01.01.2004. Educational qualification and experience should be from an Organization / Institute of repute.

Application form duly completed in all respects along with a crossed demand draft of Rs.100/- (Rupees One hundred only) drawn in favor of Director, NIV, Pune payable at SBI Main Branch, Pune and attested copies of certificates in support of date of birth, educational qualification, experience, caste verification etc., may be sent to THE DIRECTOR, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF VIROLOGY, 20-A, DR. AMBEDKAR ROAD, POST BOX NO.11, PUNE – 411 001 on or before the last date. Separate application should be submitted for each post and specialty. SC/ST/PH and Women candidates are exempted from payment of Rs.100/-. ICMR employees are not exempted from the payment.
Candidates working in Central/State Govt. /Public Sector Undertakings/Government funded organizations etc. should submit their applications THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL.
