Duration of the project: 3 years

Qualifications: M.Sc. (Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology) NET/JRF qualified candidates or M.Tech. (Biotechnology) GATE qualified candidates for a DST sponsored project.

Scope of work: The project is related to de-toxification of Jatropha de-oiled cake and characterization of the extent of de-toxification using human/animal cell lines. The studies will involve plant pot culture experiments, running of a biogas plant and cell culture experiments.

Requirements: The interested candidate should have an excellent understanding of aseptic techiniques with clean handling of bench scale work. Experience in human/animal cell culture would be a plus. The candidate should have experinece in Western blots and general protein related work and must be willing to work with protein toxins. Good command on written English will be a plus. Microsoft office knowledge is desirable.

Salary: Salary will be based on DST norms, i.e. 16,000 + HRA for JRF/M.Tech., GATE qualified and Rs 12,000 + HRA for NET qualified (for lectureship) candidates.

There is a scope for the qualified candidate to register for Ph.D. through Sardar Patel University while working on the project. Accreditation for the above is awaited and may be obtained by January 2012.
