THE NATIONAL CENTRE FOR BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES AND THE INSTITUTE FOR STEM CELL RESEARCH AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE, BANGALORE – INDIA
Independent International Research Position in Molecular and Cellular Cancer Research
The FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM) in Milan has initiated a collaborative venture on cancer research with the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and The Institute for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine (inSTEM), Bangalore India. We are looking for an outstanding scientist with a strong research record. The position can be at a junior (equivalent to Assistant Professor) or senior (equivalent to Associate or Full Professor) level and will initially be for a six-years period. The selected investigator will have all the facilities needed for an independent research program, including an attractive salary, generous laboratory space, equipment as needed, operational costs and access to excellent students and post-doctoral fellows. Also available are top-class research facilities such as microscopy, cell-sorting, mass-spectrometry and high-throughput facilities. The investigator will be based in Bangalore, with close interactions with IFOM scientists through regular visits to Milan. Research fields of particular interest include cancer epigenetics, stem cell research, chromatin dynamics, virology and computational biology.
THE INSTITUTIONS
The FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology (IFOM) is an international, non-profit research centre headquartered in Milan (Italy) and funded by the Italian Foundation for Cancer Research (FIRC). IFOM has rapidly developed into an attractive environment for cutting edge science aimed at understanding the molecular processes responsible for the onset and development of cancer. IFOM has joint laboratories in India and Singapore.

The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is a premier centre for research and teaching in frontier areas of biology and is funded primarily by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Research at NCBS covers a diverse set of subjects in several areas of modern biology ranging in scope from the molecular to population level studies.

The Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inSTEM) is a new collaborative
venture of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and is being nurtured in a shared campus with NCBS. inSTEM’s philosophy is to build on the excellent foundations of science in NCBS environment and encourage the formation of collaborative teams that address key scientific problems in stem cell and regenerative biology. InStem provides exceptional scientists with the opportunity to undertake ground-breaking research into the fundamental properties of stem cells (mammalian or model organisms) and their utility in creating disease models as well as their applications to drug discovery and the development of cell therapies.
