DST Sponsored SERC School in Chronobiology

Chronobiology deals with oscillatory phenomena in living organisms and their adaptation to geophysical cycles. It is a rapidly expanding branch that touches almost every discipline and deeply influences allied areas.

Chronobiological studies include, but are not limited to comparative anatomy, development, physiology, medicine, genetics, molecular biology, behaviour, ecology and evolution. The Department of Science and Technology has been organizing the SERC School in Chronobiology for the past nine years.

The current 10th School is second of the series III of this activity, named as SERC School in Chronobiology III: Clocks, Rhythms and Behaviour. The aim of the School is to have the experts in the field, drawn from some of the finest laboratories, interact with our students and teach principles and recent developments in Biological Rhythms.

Tentative list of core faculty: A. S. Dixit (NEHU, Shillong), Joshua J. Gooley (National University of Singapore, Singapore), Dilip Joshi (Ahmednagar College, India), Vinod Kumar (Delhi University, India), Henrik Mouritsen (University of Oldenburg, Germany), Sachidananda Panda (Salk Institute for Biological Studies, CA, USA), Atanu K. Pati (Pt. R. S. University, India), Sangeeta Rani (Lucknow University, India), Vijay K. Sharma (JNCASR, India), Nishikant Subhedar (IISER Pune, India), Paul Taghert (Washington University School of Medicine, USA) Sheeba Vasu (JNCASR, India). In addition, there will be mentors and prospective/guest faculty teaching in this school.

Final year M.Sc./M.B.B.S./M.Pharm./B.Tech. students, Ph.D. scholars, Post-docs and young faculty may apply with CV (date of birth, complete address with e-mail ID, educational qualifications with year and % marks), one photograph, two recommendation letters and a brief statement of purpose (~ 200 words) of attending this School.

There is no registration fee. Local hospitality and travel support (limited to AC III train fare) will be provided.
