XVII UGC-NRCBS Winter School on Neurobiology with a Focus on Auditory System: Neurophysiology, Neuroanatomy, Psychoacoustics

19 September–4 October 2011

UGC-NRCBS, Madurai Kamaraj University invites applications from research scholars, postdocs, young faculty members and scientists of Indian Universities/Research Institutions for the Winter School on ‘Neurobiology with a Focus on Auditory System: Neurophysiology, Neuroanatomy, Psychoacoustics’ to be held from 19 September–4 October 2011.

The winter school will provide insight into a variety of neurobiological methods and
to demonstrate that the use of different complementary methods is indispensable to get profound insight into the functioning of nervous systems.

Hands-on training will be organized in small groups. Training includes intracellular recording techniques in leech ganglia, extracellular recordings from auditory midbrain, neuroanatomical processing of brain tissue, use of neuronal tracers, psycho-acoustic measures of auditory performance, and monitoring of oto-acoustic emissions from human ears. Detailed instructions and application form can be downloaded from the UGC-NRCBS website www.nrcbsmku.org or from www.genomicsmku.org

Candidates should submit the filled in application form to Dr Sripathi Kandula, Convener, UGC-NRCBS Winter School on Neurobiology with a Focus on Auditory System: Neurophysiology, Neuroanatomy, Psychoacoustics, School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai 625 021 on or before 31 August 2011.

Applications should be forwarded by their research supervisor/Head of the department or Head of the institution. Applications sent via e-mail will also be considered. The duly forwarded hard copy should reach us within a week. The candidates will be selected based on the qualification and research interests. TA/DA will be provided to the selected participants as per the MK University regulations.
