Scientist Job @ DuPont Knowledge Center on Molecular Characterization

The Regulatory Science team is a part of DuPont Agricultural Biotech at DuPont Knowledge Center, Hyderabad. It is responsible for conducting efficacy and safety related studies of genetically modified (GM) crops to be commercialized in India by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. and consists of multi-disciplinary groups, including scientists as well as quality assurance and compliance personnel from a broad range of technical fields, working together with regulatory and biotech affairs in India and globally. We are currently seeking candidates as employees to carry out molecular characterization studies during regulatory field trials.

Job Description

Scientist- Molecular Characterization will be responsible for the design and conduct of molecular studies. Successful candidate will manage a group of Research Associates to deliver molecular data on various crop species.

Responsibilities

1.The primary responsibility of the Scientist – Molecular Characterization will be to design and deliver molecular data on crops undergoing various stages of Field Trials. He/she would be a part of team of scientists in various disciplines of Plant biotechnology to conduct Field trials.
2.Develop protocols, generate and/or review reports of molecular studies related to genetically modified (GM) crops. Provide critical scientific review of the technical reports for submissions to regulatory bodies.
3.Trains and manages Research Associates and assistants to conduct molecular experiments, troubleshoots and works on bench to demonstrate or establish new techniques. Ensures safe work practices and work towards improvement of protocols and working conditions. Ensures availability of reagents and equipment to conduct experiments.
4.Seek innovative solutions to issues raised by regulators on submitted molecular data. Owns accountability on molecular work so that registration milestones are met within agreed timeframes.
5.Successful candidate will work closely with counterpart functional groups within the company to effectively share the knowledge.
6.Maintain and update a relevant technical knowledge base as well as internal corporate documents and peer-reviewed external publications on various molecular techniques.

The incumbant in this position will also be expected to devote efforts toward evaluation of new technologies that could be applied to molecular assessment of transgenic elements used in GM foods.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies and Experience

Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology or related field with 2-4 years of post-doctoral experience in a reputed lab working on Molecular Biology projects. Working experience in Plant molecular biology is preferred. Industrial experience with knowledge of GLPs associated with the conduct of OECD guideline for molecular studies is a plus.

1.Must be able to direct the design, oversight, and interpretation of Molecular data generated to support the evaluation of GM crops developed at Pioneer.
2.Leadership skills to represent Molecular group in technical meetings and group discussion.
3.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. People management to generate high quality data, working within specified time lines is required.
4.Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Ability to work to deadlines.
