A Refresher Course on ‘Modern Genetics: Concepts and Practice’ for graduate and postgraduate college/university teachers will be held at Manipal Life Sciences Centre, Manipal University, Manipal for two weeks from 4 to 16 February 2013.
The objective of this Refresher Course is to give the participants a hands-on training on genetics and molecular biology techniques; and the theory behind them. A variety of teaching methods such as lectures, interaction with the renowned resource persons, discussion and laboratory work shall facilitate the learning process. The Course will help the participants to gain and sharpen their skills in genetics. This training provides them necessary knowledge to boost their confidence in handling modern instruments used in the field of life sciences and contemporary genetics. The skills gained during this Course will effectively fulfill their role as better teachers to train undergraduate/postgraduate students and better researchers.
The Course will consist of a lecture everyday and over 6 hours of practical/demonstration/hands-on training.
Teachers who wish to participate in the Refresher Course may send their application on plain paper with the following details: name, age, date of birth, gender, e-mail, official and residential address, telephone and mobile numbers, academic qualifications starting from B.Sc. onwards, teaching experience, courses taught, positions held and a statement indicating their reasons for interest in participating in the Course; and their expectations from the Course (please do not send your entire bio-data). Twenty five selected teachers will be provided local hospitality and round trip actual bus fare/train fare (3 tier AC) by the shortest route.
