Admission to Part-time and Full-time (without scholarship) PhD Research Scholars - 2014-15, Even semester
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to Part-time and Full-time (without scholarship) PhD Research Scholars in the following departments:
1 Biotechnology (spl. Bioprocess Engineering)
2 Chemical Engg
3 Computer Centre
4 Computer Science & Engineering
5 Earth & Environmental Studies
6 Electrical Engg
7 Chemistry
8 Civil Engg.
9 Metallurgical & Materials Engg
10 Management Studies
11 Mathematics
12 Computer Applications
13 Physics
14 Mechanical Engg
There is a mandatory attendance requirement for all full-time PhD students.
ELIGIBILITY
1. M. Tech./ M.E./ M. Arch/ M. Pharm in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate in the M.E./ M. Tech. level from a recognized technical institute or university/ government open university
2. B. Tech/ B.E./ MCA/ B. Arch/ B. Pharm in relevant discipline with at least 7.5 CGPA or 70 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university/ government open university
3. M. Sc./ M. Com./ MBA/ PGDBM/ PGDM/ MA/ MBBS/ BDS in relevant discipline with at least 6.0 CGPA or 55 percent marks or equivalent in aggregate from a recognized institute or university/ government open university
4. CA/ ICWAI/ CS with a graduation degree in any discipline with at least 55 percent marks or equivalent in aggregate.
5 The minimum CGPA/marks shall be relaxed by 0.5 CGPA or 5 percent in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories
6. The faculty and staff members of the Institute who satisfy the eligibility criteria may be considered for admission to the PhD programme as Part-time Research Scholar subject to a no-objection certificate from the Institute. They shall work for their PhD programme while discharging their normal duties.
7. Part-time External Research Scholars may carry out their research work in their parent organization after fulfilling the pre-requisites in the Institute. They shall submit a no-objection certificate from the employer during admission.
Above eligibility is minimum requirement only. Good academic career and higher qualification will be preferred and mere eligibility shall not ensure a call for admission test and/or viva voce. A screening of applications will be made and only the short-listed candidates will be called for admission test and/or viva voce. There shall be a further screening after the admission test. All clauses in the PhD regulations of the Institute, posted in the Institute website, shall be applicable for the admission process.
APPLICATION
Application in prescribed format must reach the office of the respective Head of the department on or before January 15, 2015. The envelope containing the application should be superscribed “Application for full-time/Part-time Ph.D. Programme (Even semester 2014-15) without scholarship in Department of _____________________________”.
Applications without the same shall not be accepted. No application fee is applicable. If one desires to apply to more than one department, separate applications need to be sent. However, admission test and viva voce for all departments shall be held on the same day and the candidate has to choose one if he/she is shortlisted in more than one. Applications reaching after the due date shall not be received.
