Semantic Web India is an IT firm specializing in data science applications focusing on the domain of Life Sciences and Genomics. The company was founded in 2019 and operates from Bangalore and Hyderabad. We are currently executing a key research project in collaboration with Industry and Research giants in the Bio-Medical and Health-Tech domain and are looking for bio-informaticians with strong biological sciences domain knowledge and computing skills background with a passion for biotech research, programming and data sciences.
Job Title – Researcher/Data Engineer (Biotechnology)
The responsibilities include
a) researching the biotechnology requirements ranging from literature survey of existing omics landscape, documenting and analysing gaps in omics pipelines, understanding and evaluating omics pipelines, exploring mechanisms for automating pipelines and modelling pipelines for omics data analysis
b) efficiently communicating the impact of the research project with customers and project teams in business terms
c) translate the business problem into a technical definition / IT specifications
d) contributing (in person) to the development and implementation of the project
e) Proficiency in one or more skills spanning Python programming, Linux OS management and scripting techniques, basic database skills such as MYSQL.
Location: Hyderabad
Domain knowledge on the following bio-technology topics is a must for this position – genomics, cellular and molecular biology, bio-informatics and its applications in healthcare. In particular, we are looking for strong domain knowledge in more than one of the following genomics sub domains: Single cell RNA-sequencing, transcriptomics, Epigenomics (BS - Seq), 10x Genomics, ChIP – Seq, ATAC – Seq, GWAS, Hi-C, or other omics. Also, knowledge in the following but not limited to Proteomics, Metabolomics, Human Gut Microbiome, Metagenomics will be an added advantage.
Job Description:
Profile will be part of a research team working with industry and research giants in the field of building standardised omics pipelines.
Technical Qualification:
Masters degree / PhD in bio-technology or biological sciences or related pure science with computational skills covering one more area given below -
• Knowledge of at least one programming skill - preferably Python or R
• Knowledge of SQL
• Knowledge of Linux Environment and scripting essential for running standard omics pipelines
Non-Technical Qualification:
o Excellent Communication Skills – Verbal and Written
o Interest and commitment to work on a research project in the life sciences / bio-tech domain
o Keen interest in writing technical research papers / journals and blogs
o Keen interest and inclination to contribute to engineering activities such as programming, data engineering and computing.
o Ability to work in a self-motivated environment in smaller teams at the customer site.
Salary: 9-12 Lakhs per annum depending on the experience
