DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (henceforth, India Alliance) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Fellowships/ Grants Manager.

Desired profile of the candidate:

·       Attitude – Positive, can do, solution oriented and a team player 

·       Qualifications: PhD, in Life Science/Biological Sciences/similar areas

·       Good knowledge of the science, research and policy ecosystem in India, and the larger international context. 

·       Experience: Skills-Essential: A minimum of 10 years with an established track record of performance out of which a minimum of 5 years in leading/managing people/process post PhD.

·       Awareness of accepted global professional protocols and procedures

·       Permission to work in India. Work location will be preferably Hyderabad

·       Good knowledge of the science, research and policy ecosystem in India, and the larger international context

·       Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

·       Good time management skills and able to work under strict deadlines

·       Skills-Desirable: A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in the not-for-profit sector.

·       Proven experience in managing large programs for effective implementation of the organization’s objectives, both independently and as a member of a cohesive team, preferably within the settings of a research funding organisation or an academic institution.

·       Experience of running competitions for funding or of writing and managing individual or institutional research grants

·        Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, ISO, Project Management or other similar practices/frameworks. 

 Description of Job Responsibilities:

      ·       Lead and manage the IA Fellowships or Grants team

·       People and Resource Management

·       Change and stakeholder management

·       Foster a ‘One Team’ approach

·       Continuous improvement – policies, process and procedures

·       Audits and Compliance

·       Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

·       Accountable for the full portfolio of IA’s applications and awards.

·       Accountable for the quality of work performed by the Grants Advisers and the respective Secretary in relation to the application and award portfolio, ensuring that their work is undertaken according to agreed procedures and produced in a timely fashion.

·       Develop and manage a training and skills development programme for the Grants. Advisers to ensure that their competencies meet the needs of the IA.

·       Work with various stakeholders in smooth conduct of award competitions and for other relevant activities

·       Responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating the IA Fellowship or Grants programme.

·       Oversee processes for monitoring and impact measurement.

·       Organize feedback from Fellows, Reviewers and Committee Members, as and when required.

·       Support, participate and lead organisational initiatives as appropriate Contribute to scientific outreach activities in collaboration with Science Communications team
