Project Scientist
The SKBET center, IIT Bhubaneswar invites applications for project scientist position who are
exceptionally bright and motivated, with an established record of independent and high-quality research.
The position will be offered for a period of one year with the possibility of renewal thereafter for another
four years with annual review.
No of Vacancies: Multiple
Minimum Qualification: Ph. D. with first class or equivalent in life sciences with a consistently very
good academic record throughout and evidence of ability to pursue independent high-quality research and
should be able to lead a research team.
Upper Age Limit: 40 Years
Experience: The candidate should have 5 years of post-Ph.D. research experience and must have
published at least 5 research articles in peer reviewed high-quality journal(s) as a lead author on probiotics
and microbiome area. The applicant should have the experience in working with the cell culture and mice
models along with thorough knowledge in microbial fermentation technology. The candidate should be
able to design the human/clinical trial experiments and execute it properly.
Job Responsibility: The candidate will work in the research and development of various probiotics
formulations and continuously screening for potential probiotic strains and next-generation probiotics
from human gut microbiota and standardize their growth conditions. In addition, the candidate needs to
work on synthetic microbiome to develop microbial products for various applications. The candidate is
required to design the mice and human experiments for screening various probiotic formulations. The
applicant is expected to write various proposals to bring extramural funding to the center.
Salary: Rs. 67000/- + HRA
Senior Project Associate
The center is looking for senior project associate position to work in probiotics and microbiome at
IIT Bhubaneswar. The position will be offered initially for a period of one year with possibility of renewal
thereafter based on review of performance.
No. of Vacancies: Multiple
Minimum Qualification: Master’s degree in natural sciences from a recognized university or equivalent
with minimum 5 years of experience in industrial and academic institutions or science and technology
organizations and scientific activities and services. The candidate should have experience of working in
the probiotics and microbiome field.
Upper Age Limit: 50 Years
Experience: The candidate must have worked in microbiology/probiotics/microbiome or any related areas
for minimum four years. Candidates having experience in cell culture and mouse experimentation is
desired but not mandatory. The candidate should be able to work in coordination with other team members.
The candidate should have the experience in scientific writings and grant writings. Experience in
genomics, metagenomics, and metabolomics data analysis is expected but not mandatory.
Job Responsibility: The candidate is required to work on screening of various probiotic strains and
formulations in mammalian cell culture and mouse models in the beginning followed by clinical trial
studies in human subjects. The candidate will perform cytotoxicity studies with various immunological
and gut epithelial cell lines following treatment with the screened probiotics strains and formulations.
Salary: 42000/- + HRA
Project Associate/SRF/JRF
The SKBET center is looking for Project associate/SRF/JRF positions to work on the field of
probiotics and microbiome at IIT Bhubaneswar. The position will be offered initially for a period of one
year with possibility of renewal thereafter based on review of performance.

Minimum Qualification: M.Sc. with first class or equivalent in life sciences with a consistently very
good academic record throughout.
Upper Age Limit: 35 Years
Experience: The candidate should have working experience in microbiology. Experience in cell culture
techniques and molecular biology techniques will be given preference. Prior experience in the probiotics
research will be preferred. The candidate should be able to work in coordination with other team
members. Experience in bioinformatics, analytical instrumentation and data analysis is desired but not
mandatory.
Job Responsibility: The candidate is required to work on screening of various probiotic formulations in
mammalian cell culture and mouse models in the beginning followed by clinical trial studies later. The
candidate will perform cytotoxicity studies with various immunological and gut epithelial cell lines
following treatment with the screened probiotics strains and formulations. The candidate should be able
to present his/her own experimental data as scientific writeups.
Salary: Rupees 31000/- + HRA
Laboratory Assistant
The SKBET center is looking for a laboratory assistant position to work on probiotics research
area at IIT Bhubaneswar. The position will be offered initially for a period of one year with possibility
of renewal thereafter based on review of performance.

Minimum Qualification: B.Sc. with first class or equivalent in life sciences with a consistently very
good academic record throughout.
Upper Age Limit: 50 Years
Experience: The candidate should have the knowledge of handling various instruments related to
microbiology, cell biology, and molecular biology. The candidate should have taken basic training in
animal handling, and microbiology.
Prior working experience in the field of probiotics will be given
preference. The candidate should be able to work in coordination with other team members.
Job Responsibility: The candidate is required to work on screening of various probiotic formulations in
mammalian cell culture. The candidate should take care of the general laboratory instruments present in
the SKBET center.
Salary: Rupees 20000/- + HRA
