A Refresher Course in Diversity and Utilization of Plants will be organized at Department of Botany, Telangana Mahila Viswavidyalayam
(TMVV University), Koti, Hyderabad, Telangana State, for two weeks of a period during 1–16 June 2023.
The refresher course will cover the topics: Fungal diversity and taxonomy, Lichen diversity and taxonomy, Plant taxonomy current status
and future prospects with particular reference to India, Conservation of threatened plants and habitats – Indian concerns and responses,
Ethnobotanical studies, Plants and their importance, Microbial diversity and taxonomy, Utilization of microbes, Applied aspects of
phytochemistry, Computer aided drug designing using plants, Role of BSI in identification and collection of flora, Herbarium techniques,
Plant taxonomy as interface between low and high tech sciences, Plants for phytoremediation, Biodiversity of Western Ghats,
Conservation measures of lower and higher plants, Synthetic chemistry, Plants for nutrition and health, Biotechnological interventions for
enriching biodiversity, Biodiversity conservation with special reference to plant genetic resources, Role of NBPGR in facilitating global
germplasm exchange, Phylogeny of angiosperms, Floristic diversity in India: concerns and strategies, Brassinosteroids, Physiology of
photosynthesis, Role of medicinal constituents in identification of plants, Economic importance of aromatic plants, Plant tissue culture –
an overview, DNA bar coding.

The objective of this Refresher Course is to update and enlighten the basic and applied aspects of Plant taxonomy of lower and higher
plants, latest biotechnological interventions, biodiversity and its conservation, medicinal plants, phytochemistry, etc. The Director of the

Applications for attending the Refresher Course are invited from teachers with experience in teaching UG and/or PG courses in botany or
biological sciences. The organizers may consider selecting a few interested Research Scholars and M.Sc. students too. Thirty five
participants will be accepted (outstation = 25 and local = 10) for the course.
Selected participants will be provided with round-trip
bus/train (three-tier AC) fare by the shortest route and local hospitality during the course, in addition to course materials.

The Course Coordinator, at the address given below. In case of teachers, the form must also be signed and stamped by the Head of
the applicant’s Institution stating that leave will be sanctioned if the applicant is selected for the Course.
A recommendation letter from a
teacher is essential for student applicants along with bonafide certificates of the Institute. Scanned copies of the duly signed documents
sent by e-mail will also be accepted.
