Applications are invited for the posts of Project Scientist-II, Senior Research Fellow, Data Analyst & Developer for the following time-bound sponsored projects as per the details given below: 

Project Entitled “Whole Genome Sequencing of MTB Clinical Strains for Determining Drug Resistance and Strain lineage in India: A structured Nationwide approach” funded by DBT 

Tenable till – 5.10.2025 

1. Project Scientist-II (One Post only) 

Essential: Doctoral degree in science or Masters degree in engineering and Technology from a recognised university or equivalent. The candidate must have at least 3 years of experience in R&D in industrial and academic institution. 

Desirable: Experience in working with Mycobacterium tuberculosis using chemical biology, functional genomics & transcriptomics techniques. Candidates should also have experience in Mycobacterial genome annotation and analysis. The candidates must highlight their research experience with dates and duration in their CV. Applications where experience is not highlighted will be rejected. 

Emoluments: The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute Rules. Rs. 67,000/- per month plus 24% HRA. 

Job description The candidate will carry out experimental work on Mycobacterium tuberculosis using chemical biology, functional genomics & transcriptomics techniques based on information from genome sequencing. Candidates will also serve as domain expert for Mycobacterial genome annotation and analysis and coordinate with database/software developers.

2. Senior Research Fellow (Two Posts ) 

Essential: M.Sc.(Bioinformatics/Biophysics/Biochemistry Biotechnology) or Masters degree in any other stream of biological/physical/computational sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine or Equivalent AND a minimum of 2 years of research experience. Must have qualified NET JRF or equivalent national level fellowship examination. 

Desirable: Work experience in the area of Bioinformatics/IT/Computer Applications. Strong computer programming skills (in PERL/Python or C++ or object oriented database management systems like MySQL etc or scripting languages under LINUX/UNIX environment) and sufficient experience in computational analysis of biological/biochemical data OR molecular modelling & simulations OR development of AI/ML methods. The candidates must highlight their experience in programming and database development & experience in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology research in their CV. Applications where experience is not highlighted will be rejected. Emoluments The selected candidates will draw consolidated emoluments as per Institute Rules. 

Rs 42,000/- consolidated p.m. plus 24% HRA depending on NET qualification as per DST OM.

Job description Prediction and analysis of Protein structure and Analysis of Genome/Microbiome, Development of bioinformatics tools and softwares for Genome mining; Development of databases and softwares for genome analysis, Molecular modelling & Simulations, installation/support of public domain softwares for structural bioinformatics in LINUX environment and system administration of computing/storage servers of Bioinformatics Center, NII. 

3. Data Analyst (One Post) 

Essential: 

(i) Master’s Degree in Natural Science (Bioinformatics / Computational Biology / Data Science) or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent AND 
(ii) Four year’s experience in R & D in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services [OR] Doctoral Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology / Pharma / MD / MS from recognized University or equivalent 

Desirable: 

(i) Extensive experience in the analysis of Next-Generation sequencing data 
(ii) Very good knowledge of NGS analysis tools, bioinformatics softwares & databases (iii) Work experience in the area of Bioinformatics/IT/Computer Applications. Strong computer programming skills (in PERL/Python/R or C++ or object oriented database management systems like MySQL etc or scripting languages under LINUX/UNIX environment) and development of AI/ML methods. The candidates must highlight their research experience with dates and duration in their CV.
