INTERVIEW DATE: 17 th June, 2025.

The National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS) is an autonomous institution of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for a mandate of basic research, teaching & training, and as a national repository for cell lines/hybridomas etc. The Centre is located in the midst of academically enriched environment of Savitribai Phule Pune University Campus, Pune. NCCS invites applications for following posts on various extramural projects purely on temporary basis. 

Sr. No.: 01 Name of the Post: Research Associate 

Name of the Project: Identification and Validation of Neoantigens in a Syngenic mouse model of Ovarian Cancer. 

Name of the PI: Dr. Sharmila Bapat 

Essential Qualification & Experience: Ph. D/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MVSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal. 

Desirable Experience: Experience in Immunology (Flow cytometry, immune-staining, immune - histochemistry, H and E Staining), Mouse handling and cell biology (cell culture, cell-based assays) 

Project Tenure: Up to 16/04/2026 

Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 47000 + HRA 

Age limit: Not more than 40 years as on date of Interview

Sr. No.: 02 Name of the Post: Senior Research Fellow (SRF) 

Name of the Project: Ayurveda-based botanicals and rheumatoid arthritis (a part of study under AYUSH Centre of Excellence, Centre for Complementary and Integrative Health School of Health Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune) 

Name of the PI: Dr. Girdhari Lal 

Essential Qualification & Experience: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following and Two years of Research Experience. 

A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIRUGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. 

B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc. 

Desirable Experience: Person having experience in cell culture, immunological techniques, ELISA, Western blot, Flow Cytometry and able to handle small animals like rodents will be preferred. Project 

Tenure: Up to 21/03/2027 

Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 42,000/- + HRA 

Age limit: Not more than 32 years as on date of Interview.

Sr. No.: 03 Name of the Post: Project Associate - I 

Name of the Project: Identifying the neuro-immune pathways that modulate feeding behavior and metabolism in Drosophila. 

Name of the PI: Dr. Gaurav Das 

Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent. 

Desirable Experience: Candidate should have some experience with the following techniques: 

a) At least 1 year of lab experience in a neurobiology lab or a drosophila lab. 

b) Proficiency in handling flies as a genetic model organism. 

c) Experience in performing behavioral experiments and analyzing data. 

Project Tenure: Up to 26/09/2027 

Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 25000/- + HRA 

Age limit: Not more than 35 years as on date of Interview

Sr. No.: 04 Name of the Post: Project Associate -I 

Name of the Project: Harnessing the inherent potential of soil microbiome in inducing disease suppressiveness in arable land. 

Name of the PI: Dr. Avinash Sharma 

Essential Qualification & Experience: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / MVSc or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent. 

Desirable Experience: Experience in metagenomic data analysis. 

Project Tenure: Up to 13/01/2028 

Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 25000/- + HRA 

Age limit: Not more than 35 years as on date of Interview.

Sr. No.: 05 Name of the Post: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) 

Name of the Project: Understanding the molecular mechanism of biogenesis of lysosomerelated organelles using the Tetrahymena thermophila model system. 

Name of the PI: Dr. Santosh Kumar 

Essential Qualification & Experience: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following: 

A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. 

B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc. 

Desirable Experience: Candidate should have some experience with the following techniques: 

• Cell culture handling and subcellular fractionation of organelles. 

• HPLC, protein purification using Affinity & gel-exclusion chromatography. 

• In-vivo and In-vitro protein-protein interaction and western blotting. 

• Confocal microscopy, Gene cloning and RT-PCR. 

Project Tenure: Up to 31/08/2028 

Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 31000/- + HRA (Enhancement of fellowship subjected to DBT approval) 

Age limit: Not more than 28 years as on date of Interview.

Sr. No.: 06 Name of the Post: Senior Research Fellow (SRF) 

Name of the Project: Understanding the virus-nuclear pore complex crosstalk using computational and structural biological approaches. 

Name of the PI: Dr. Krishnakant Gupta 

Essential Qualification & Experience: Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science or Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following and Two years of Research Experience. 

A. Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIRUGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE. 

B. The selection process through National Level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER etc. 

Desirable Experience: Experience in molecular cloning and protein purification. Candidate should be knowing basics of R and Python. 

Project Tenure: Up to 02/04/2026 

Total Monthly Emoluments: Rs. 35,000/- + HRA (Enhancement of fellowship subjected to DBT approval) 

Age limit: Not more than 32 years as on date of Interview.
